Publisher's summary

Exploding from the pages of Horror, Humor, and Heroes, Volume One - it’s the full length adventures of the one and only Mechani-Cal! So grab your battlesuit and prepare to get a little nasty.

"Being a supervillain means never having to say you’re sorry - unless it’s to the judge or the parole board. Even then, you don’t really have to. It’s not like it’s going to change the outcome or anything." Those are the words of Calvin Matthew Stringel, better known as Mechani-Cal. He’s a down-on-his-luck armored villain. Follow his exploits as he gets swept up in a world domination scheme gone wrong and ends up working for these weak willed, mercy loving heroes. Immerse yourself in epic battles and see what it’s like to be an outsider looking in at a world that few have ever experienced. Climb into Cal’s battlesuit and join him on his journey. Will he avoid selling out his principles for a paycheck and a pardon? Can he resist the camaraderie of being on a super team? Does he fall prey to the ample charms of the beautiful Olympian Aphrodite? How will he survive the jealous schemes of Ultraweapon, who wears armor so powerful it makes Cal’s look like a museum piece?

See the world of “righteous do-gooders” through the eyes of someone who doesn’t particularly care for them. Revel in his sarcasm and hang on for one wild ride! Just remember: losing an argument with a group of rioters isn’t a good excuse to start lobbing tear gas indiscriminately at them. You’ve only got so many rounds and it’s going to be a long day, so make sure you get as many as possible with each one.

Worth every penny/credit!

Would you listen to Confessions of a D-List Supervillain again? Why?

I thought the character was fun to listen to. The reader did an awesome job of relating the high and lows of Cal through voice inflection and attitude. The story was very well written and I would listen to this story again as well as any sequels if/when written.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Confessions of a D-List Supervillain?

Any time Stacey and Cal interacted.

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer and Talmadge Ragan – was your favorite?

The anti-hero hero - Mechani-Cal.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

To write that would give away parts of the story that deserves to be read on its own.

What's Not To Love Here??

Jeffrey Kafer does a fantastic job narrating this amazing book! My husband and I laughed so hard we couldn't breath at times. It's well written and perfectly delivered, a truly awesome combination of writer and narrator! We can't wait to listen to the rest of this series! ~Jennifer

The Supervillain Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Confessions of a D-List Supervillain to be better than the print version?

Haven't read it yet, but I now plan to just to find out.

What did you like best about this story?

The whole story. Just the idea that the heroes aren't always the good guys, and villains aren't always evil.

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer and Talmadge Ragan – was your favorite?

Cal, absolutely Cal. He is the heart and soul of the whole book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"He ain't a hero, but he can still save the world. And maybe get the girl.!"

Best surprise I've found on Audible

I'll admit I'm a superhero geek. So when I saw it on sale I said why not based off of the reviews. First audio book I just restarted listening to as soon as I finished. Found the "villain" relatable and really enjoyed his arc.

Fun and Quick

This was a fun listen. I find myself listening to books when I have a slow day at work, and this filled that day nicely. Fun story. Fairly well put together. I loved the concept. hope to find more like this in the future!

Giggling Good Time

I bought this in hopes of keeping awake during my 9 1/2 hour commute, but it was better than just interesting, which was my lowest expectation. I laughed my way through four States at the puns and self-depreciating attitude of the D-List super-villain who by complete accident ends up being the last free-thinking person on the planet and thus, the only one capable of saving it.

I enjoyed discovering along with Cal that the good guys (and gals) aren't necessarily all that good just because they're "heroes"; they just have better PR, and in fact, living the life of a "super", whether you have powers or just the smarts to make nifty toys, can be just as cliquish as high school. It's definitely more dangerous once the attitudes come with mind control, power punches, clones, and assassin-bots.

This story clearly mocked the ridiculousness of hero names, costumes, and origins, while delving into the consequences of actions, including death or even embarrassment, and the gritty world the ridiculous happens to exist in. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this story. I'm looking forward to listening to the prequel on my return trip.

Call me crazy.

I can't explain it. I don't know why but this is my go to book when I need a break from the world. Perhaps it is the narrators but something about this book triggers a true escapism in me.

Great til the second narrator.

Don't want to spoil anything but there are two narrators and one is much better than the other. The story is otherwise fun and about what' you would expect with a few cool twists.

The first book was better.

The first book was better, and should have ended earlier adding its closing to the beginnjng of this one. This one was still enjoyable, but there was abit too muchinr moniloging. The first book in the series felt like there was better story telling.

LOVED IT!

What made the experience of listening to Confessions of a D-List Supervillain the most enjoyable?

My husband and I listened to it together and we both loved the storyline, the humor and the characters. I enjoy the smirk worthy sarcastic humor in it and my husband likes all the sci-fy aspects. We both are into the story and characters. Can't wait for the third one to be on Audible!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Team Mechani-Cal! He is easy to empathize with and I like how he grows, or is more revealed, emotionally over the first two books.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I really loved the epilogues, and thought the second narrator was a great addition for the voice being expressed.
