Publisher's summary

Exploding from the pages of Horror, Humor, and Heroes, Volume One - it’s the full length adventures of the one and only Mechani-Cal! So grab your battlesuit and prepare to get a little nasty.

"Being a supervillain means never having to say you’re sorry - unless it’s to the judge or the parole board. Even then, you don’t really have to. It’s not like it’s going to change the outcome or anything." Those are the words of Calvin Matthew Stringel, better known as Mechani-Cal. He’s a down-on-his-luck armored villain. Follow his exploits as he gets swept up in a world domination scheme gone wrong and ends up working for these weak willed, mercy loving heroes. Immerse yourself in epic battles and see what it’s like to be an outsider looking in at a world that few have ever experienced. Climb into Cal’s battlesuit and join him on his journey. Will he avoid selling out his principles for a paycheck and a pardon? Can he resist the camaraderie of being on a super team? Does he fall prey to the ample charms of the beautiful Olympian Aphrodite? How will he survive the jealous schemes of Ultraweapon, who wears armor so powerful it makes Cal’s look like a museum piece?

See the world of “righteous do-gooders” through the eyes of someone who doesn’t particularly care for them. Revel in his sarcasm and hang on for one wild ride! Just remember: losing an argument with a group of rioters isn’t a good excuse to start lobbing tear gas indiscriminately at them. You’ve only got so many rounds and it’s going to be a long day, so make sure you get as many as possible with each one.

Really Enjoyed it!

Would you listen to Confessions of a D-List Supervillain again? Why?

Probably not. Not because it's not good, because it is! Just because I rarely if ever re-read books.

What other book might you compare Confessions of a D-List Supervillain to and why?

Nothing I've ever read before!

Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafer and Talmadge Ragan ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

Any additional comments?

This was a first for me...downloaded it to my old Kindle. I didn't even know it had a volume button! I was pretty impressed with how long the battery lasted with the audio going, and even more surprised that it went into sleep mode, but the audio kept going! The narration was really good...He read it like he was the character, and since the book is first person, you kind of have to be that person. It was a little shocking at the end to have the character change. But...that's the way it's written! I almost quit before the epilogues, as that seemed to be the end of the story.
The story was really good...a super hero soap opera. Well thought out characters, with personalities that ranged widely. Who ever thought that any superhero besides Batman had an attitude?
Totally out of my normal genre, but I'll be reading more of Jim Bernheimer. And, I think I'll be looking for more books on Audible, because the price was great, and we do enjoy listening to stories when we travel. Great job all the way around!

Great second book in the series!

Cal is a great character and this is a very fun story where he gets to be the hero. The only thing I didn't like was hearing the second narrator speak for Cal. Very jarring and hard to connect to that voice at the end when you've heard everything in the other voice the whole book. The original narrator should have finished out the chapters told from Stacey's point of view. Looking forward to the next one!

Wow

I was surprised... Very good. I kinda wish there was a sequel because I enjoyed it so much and was sad it ended.

Good fun listen.

Good series with a fun twist on superheroes and super villains. Voice performance is good as well. I deem it "credit worthy".

The D-List is really a A-List

Great start to the series. Although Origins is a prequel but takes place before listen either way. The D-List is a story of a Villian that by circumstances beyond his control ends up a hero. Solid story and character development throughout. Reminds us that the choices we make and how we deal with problems effects our lives. Though humor and heartache we come to feel for Cal and his life. Well worth the credit.

A Very Fun Read

Narration was very good. I loved the flawed and sarcastic main character. This was a great weekend read.

One pf my favorite tales.

Jim and Jeffrey are a wonderful pairing. With Bernheimer's words and Kaeffer's voice the story really comes alive.
