Publisher's summary

On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is...different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight. Under the circumstances, "normal" is a bit of a stretch for Dina.

And now, something with wicked claws and deepwater teeth has begun to hunt at night....Feeling responsible for her neighbors, Dina decides to get involved. Before long, she has to juggle dealing with the annoyingly attractive, ex-military, new neighbor, Sean Evans - an alpha-strain werewolf - and the equally arresting cosmic vampire soldier, Arland, while trying to keep her inn and its guests safe. But the enemy she’s facing is unlike anything she’s ever encountered before. It’s smart, vicious, and lethal, and putting herself between this creature and her neighbors might just cost her everything.

Innkeeper Series

The series is really quite Captivating. I love Renee Ruadman. It was a little hard to where the same voice as those characters in Kate Daniel's world but know the represented a whole different cast of characters. For the whole of audio narration. I personally don't care for more than one narrator for a series and certainly not in a single book. If there must be more than on narrator as the Chapters swap back and forth between the perspective of 2 different characters, at least have one voice for the character represented. In other words, if a book has Bob and Sue as the main characters from whose perspective the story is told, then let Sue always be spoken by the Sue narrokor regardless of perspective, etc. If a series has a different narrator for different books in a series rather than one single narrator for the whole series, it would be better to ensure they at least pronounce all the character names the same between one book and the next. For example, in the Innkeeps, until book 5, it was pronounced - Vilmosh. But book 5, he was suddenly - Wilmose. Not haven read the series, only listened, I don't know which is correct and honestly it doesn't matter, it should just be consistent. other wise, I Love them all.

Loved the story!

I loved the story! And I love Dina!
The narrator fits the part perfectly! Just a hint of a southern accent and more gentle tones!
Love the idea of a magical Inn! And the developing relationships…that continue through the series….. I’m on to the next one!

Clean sweep is fun and funny

Humor is mixed with action and aliens - the perfect cocktail.
The innkeeper universe is detailed and creative but it’s the very human dialogue that makes this series most fun.

Outstanding!

In short, GET IT! Darn it Audible, sometimes you do not need 15 words to convey a point.

What happened to the narrator?

The story was different and interesting. Lots of action and slow burn romance. However, it was hard to really enjoy it because I found the narration very annoying. She spoke very slowly especially for Dina and sometimes whispered, not at all like what a normal person sounds like. I had to increase the speed to 1.25x in order to make it tolerable. I loved the Kate Daniels audio books, where her voice and accents were much more enjoyable.

Meh

As a fan of Ilona Andrews writing, it pains me to give this book a less than stellar review. Unfortunately I just couldn't get into the story (or lack There of) or the world they tried to build with the first book in the Inn Keeper series. There were some pieces that had promise but they were few and too far between to justify this as a series.

A promising start

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

To my paranormal and urban-fantasy loving friends, I would recommend they try this.

If you’ve listened to books by Ilona Andrews before, how does this one compare?

This was my first listen. I usually read her books.

What three words best describe Renee Raudman’s voice?

Throaty, elderly, inauthentic. I actually looked her up on YouTube because I couldn't figure out why she sounded like a 70-year-old when the character was so young. I think the Southern accent and slowing way down made her sound way older to me than I anticipated.

Did Clean Sweep inspire you to do anything?

No

Any additional comments?

I am excited to read the next book because this one just seems like an introduction to the world, and the next one shows how two series combine into one (with the introduction of George, from Ilona Andrews' other series).

Excellent engrossing story !

Love this story. Engaging story with characters I bonded with . Small cast . I felt part of the action without risking myself. I'll say again, love this story, it never lagged once . It's on my small list to listen to over & over when I want to soothe myself , or just be enertained .

I Loved it

Dina is my kind of lady. All powerful and she doesn't take any mess.i can't wait to dig into the next book.
It's hard to get a mental picture on what the main Character Dina looks like though. Renee Raudman does not sound like a 24 year old woman and the beginning of the book doesn't give a good description of the main characters. The narrator did really well portraying the other characters but I did not find her appropriate for the main character.
I like that there was only a hint of romance and the focus was on the story. this was such a great book. please Enjoy😊
