Didn't live up to it's billing.

By the time I got through 90% of the book, I knew I was going to return it, so I just stopped there. Juvenile is the best descriptor I can come up with. It's a hair under just ok. Female protagonist is over the top on the 'girl bad ass' stereotype. Male bad guys are over the top on the 'white country redneck' stereotype. Story itself is shallow and predictable. If you want a good sci fi 'small community that takes care of itself' story, try Heinlein's The Moon is a harsh mistress.
