Take a look it's in a book...Reading Rainbow!
Book two of the series picks up right where the first left off. The recap is done through a phone conversation between two supporting characters. I enjoyed this because we had a chance to see more of their personalities and get a swift catch up on events.
This goes deeper into the centaur mythology and more of their interactions with the Gods. Really great story telling and world building. It is a rich world with wonderful levels, that slowly reveal themselves.
The focus of this book is more on Cami and Drake, with their quest to find Hercules arrow, and on Bo and Daniel, with their budding friendship. Most of the mixed narrative comes from these four characters, but there are a few others tossed in here and there. It is a great device for getting into the head of many characters, making a more enriching read.
The romance heats up but still stays PG, no sexing for these two! The dynamic between Cami and Drake is always brimming with angst, but it is well done drama.
I listened to the audiobook narrated again by Teri Schnaubelt, She has a wonderful quality to her voice that suits the read. Her swift read helps move the action along. I really enjoy her voices and how distinct she keeps them. There could be a little more accent on the Southern characters, but that is nitpicking. I hope she stays with the series!
I really enjoy the way this story weaves together. I am excited to see where it headed next!!
Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.
Yes! This is a fantastic story! It is so much better in audio too with all the accents and excitement! OMG, it was like I had my back turned to the TV!
The 1st of this series, Blood Debt! I fell in love with this series from listening to Blood Debt! I was thrilled to see book 2 came out in audio too!
Teri is a superb reader. Her Irish accents were awesome! The proper pronunciations & all the excitement! This book had me on the edge of my seat. Terri is also a master at multiple voices!
Paranormal meets mythology, a love story in the making!
I so love this series! Before hearing book 1, Blood Debt, I had never even heard of the author Nancy Straight. Now I want to read all her books!!! She write a tantalizing & exiting edge-of-your-seat paranormal. I have learned so much about centaurs too!
This is another in a great line of books from my favorite author Nancy Straight! The story picks up right after the first book and continues the adventure of Cami and Drake as they try to find a way to protect the love they are fighting to hold on to. This story introduces new, loveable characters and has a few surprised in store! Full of romance and twists, I was swept up from the first chapter and joined in as the adventure unfolded. Teri did another excellent job with her narration and brought these wonderful characters to life.
Love conquers all.
The character development probably one of the best parts.
I've only listened to her in this series and it has been wonderful.
Drake closing his new form to keep Cami safe.
This series will be one I reread or listen to every year.
This audiobook had a ton of action and answered a lot of questions from Book 1. I felt so many things while reading: excitement, nervousness, frustration, anger, joy, hope, and contentment. It was a mix of emotions but overall, I'm just so happy to listen to this audiobook.
