"Caged is very much plot driven and when paired with Ruby's outstanding voice this story quickly becomes next to impossible to put down. Natusch's descriptions are spellbinding without putting even the smallest damper on the endless action. It might be an indie publication but rest assured, you're in for a wild ride. With a riveting narrative and a story line that just doesn't quit; this book is a must read for any and all paranormal fiction junkies." (Carmel)
"Caged could very possibly be one of the best Urban Fantasy novels I have ever read." (Jena Gregoire)
"I'll admit that Caged sucked me in, and I bought Haunted the minute I finished it." (Connie Suttle, best-selling author of the Blood Destiny series)
I really liked the plot of the story but the language took me aback. It was really mature language (ML). I know we all say these words but with that in mind please don't take it personal. I would NOT have this book in my classroom, so parents judge at your discretion. I'm sure I will read the other books but will only have them on the back burner.
The book started off slow with too much detail about day to day activities that had no later importance. This was quite frustrating and I did almost chuck it in but then I do have a low tolerance level so I persevered and found myself sucked into the story. Things improved thereon except when Ruby's naïveté or defensiveness tried my suspension of disbelief. The pace of the story and mystery of her past and who she is piqued my curiosity enough to want to listen more.
Well written and excellently performed. An enjoyable listen. I like that the author didn't feel the need to add excessive sex and gore in order to write a good story. The story description isn't quite adequate. I was a bit surprised when Ruby learned her true identity. Didn't see that coming! I look forward to the next book in the series.
I definitely enjoyed the book and plan to read the rest of them. My only problem with the book which has been tackled by other reviewers is the fact that the main character does tend to whine and it and it gets frustrating when her temper tantrum hinders the unveiling of the story. Other than that, I enjoyed the characters very much. The story moved along at a reasonable pace and didn't really leave me unanswered questions which I liked. the dialogue was very quippy and Joss Whedon like at times. Honestly I can't wait to read the next one.
I love tavia! I enjoyed Ruby's witty & sarcastic humor, and Tavia's was on point!
Anxiously anticipating how this series develops.
Read and loved the print version of Caged but the audio was like reading it again for the first time!! Absolutely loved it!
Amber Lynn Natusch had taken a stale genre and created something new and intriguing.
Tavia Gilbert is one of my favorite narrators because she can convey true emotion and she has a great range with all of the characters. She brings them to life.
There were a few moments that moved me and there were a few moments that were laugh out loud funny; however I do not wish to introduce any spoilers here.
Listening to audio books is my new addiction; although I prefer to listen to books I have already read; characters that I already know and enjoy have a voice and it is amazing.
