Publisher's Summary

At 22, Keira Carver needs to find a husband, but the prospects in her small medieval village are pretty slim. So when Aaron Drake, a handsome stranger, takes up residence at Storbrook Castle, set deep in the surrounding mountains, Keira takes notice. Just as interesting is the fact that a fire-breathing dragon has also moved into the neighborhood, and is rumored to live in caves beneath the mountain fortress. What exactly is the connection between Aaron Drake and the dragon? And when the dragon rescues her from the unwanted attentions of some village boys, who will set out to rescue her from the huge, scaly, fire-breathing monster?

"Story is good, but the narration made it painful"

I have a hard time writing this since I generally try not to be too hard on narrators, I know they put an enormous amount of time and effort in bringing these books alive for us, but this performance can only be described as mildly painful. The story itself is original and engaging (or I wouldn't have finished it). The love story develops rather quickly and misses some of the texture or depth I would have expected, however, it doesn't detract from the overall book. The world Linda has created is exciting and interesting. I could have dealt with out all the "my sweet"s though, it got old extremely quickly.

Unfortunately, the flaws in the writing were made worse by the narration. To be honest I am not sure if the flaws would have been apparent if I had read it on paperback. I gave her two stars since it wasn't atrocious, it was just unimaginative and flat. She maintains a cheerful pleasant voice the entire time, no matter what is happening or who is doing it. While the antagonist about to beat and rape the protagonist he sounds like Siri on your iPhone politely giving you directions. It sounds like this THE WHOLE TIME. The two love interests having a quarrel? Sweet polite voice. Someone getting killed? Sweet polite voice. I wanted to scream.

I liked the book enough that I am excited to read the sequel, but unless it is published (if it is produced as an audio book) with a different narrator I will not be listening to it.

    "Great Audio book!"
What made the experience of listening to Bound by a Dragon the most enjoyable?

I read all the books in the series and loved them. I have a long drive to/from work so I was able to listen to the book again in the car. It is so well narrated and such a great story that the time passed fast. I was looking forward to my drives. :)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bound by a Dragon?

I love the whole development of blood ritual. Seeing the 2 perspectives and finally the acceptance.

What about Linda Hopkins’s performance did you like?

She has a good voice for audio books and I love her English accent.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have loved to do so but rather... I needed for my long travel to and from work.

    Any additional comments?

I cannot wait for her to narrate the other books she has written! :)

    "Awesome!"

The narrator reads the story as it was written without trying to create voices for each character which can be hard to understand. Her voice is clear and quite pleasant. The text is read with just enough enthusiasm to keep my attention without overdoing it. Can't wait for the next audiobook !
