"Brown is maturing in his writing..best yet"

This is Brown's best yet. His characterizations are becoming well-developed with real emotions and real problems. Nathan Scott has matured into someone far wiser than his years, which one would expect considering his past 8 months. The plot continues to interest and occasionally surprise. Can't wait for the next installment.

"Another great addition to the series.."

I have every book in the series and would place it in the category as these space series -- The Lost Fleet by Jack Campbell, Kris Longknife by Mike Sheperd, and Cassandra Kresnov by Joel Shepperd.

"Another Excellent book in the series"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Well if your sucked into the series you have no choice but to recommend them.

What other book might you compare Born of the Ashes to and why?

No each book I read is different

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?

None really, but the Author better keep JK he is an excellent voice actor. An audio book can succeed or fail on the voice actor. You change voice actor in this series of books would kill them. Pay whatever price he asks for. And no he is not my brother or cousin.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Aurora against all odds.

    Any additional comments?

I wish he would write a longer book, Ben Bova seems give more bank for the buck. Plus I would think since this is a series the time between books would be shorter your just continuing with the story line. I would suggest you ask the readers to submit story line ideas. Might help in moving the story along faster. No they don't get paid and No they don't get credit. They get to see their idea on the written page and that should be enough

    "Great Story!"

While great on its own, Books 10 and 11 go very well together. Be prepared to download both for a great listen and a more complete story.

"Best series I have yet to read"
What did you love best about Born of the Ashes?

The geometry of the battles (both space and atmosphere) might be hard to follow for the novice, but being a F-16 fighter pilot I find it fascinating how the author follows good sound tactical practices

What did you like best about this story?

Easy to follow but I spent much time rewinding to capture complex intertwined plots

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?

Josh - he has the Right stuff. A natural cocksure but not arrogant pilot

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    The Ark of Knowledge

"I have never been this annoyed by a narrator."

Body movements, stage ques are whispered between voices. I haven't paid attention to how any other narrated book was written or noticed if or how a book is narrated... stage questions and body language and who the speakers are. BUT WHISPERING IS NOT HOW YOU NARRATE!
    HACKED OFF.
#####Kafer is on my never again list.#####

    "Incredible military space opera!"
Where does Born of the Ashes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I listen to most if not all the great space opera series on audible and this to me really is the best series, starting from the first book in this series each book gets better and better.

What did you like best about this story?

I really like how Ryk Brown builds his story from the beginning of the book to an always dramatic conclusion, the tensions slowly builds and even though each book is part of a series and unlike many other books in a series you always feel satisfied with where the book ended while still looking forward for the next book to see where it all leads to. Very strong character development throughout the series I really care about the characters.

What about Jeffrey Kafer’s performance did you like?

Kafer is fantastic well beyond average he is perfect for this series.

"It's growing pains for the Aurora"

All things age and hopefully do it gracefully but the Aurora and the Celestia (the earths space fleet) are doing it by fire, literally ! The too young Captain with his original cobbled together crew have had to grow quickly and achieve the experienced warrior sheen in weeks not years!
Born of Ashes reveals the troubles, the trauma, the melding that occurs
in battles with an enemy who is merciless and wants total anilation. It also shows the respect, the kinship that knits many individuals to a fighting unit. Simply, Born of the Ashes is another sleep robber because from the first listen, there's just never a good place to stop it! You place in the Gold again Mr. Brown and Mr. Kafer!
