In a universe where corruption and deception rule all aspects of life, sparks of rebellion threaten to ignite.
As the Resistance leader, Zarya Starska's only goal is to topple the government that destroyed her entire family and left her penniless. Her biggest asset is a mysterious man known only as Kere.
But Kere has a dark secret. Born into a world that is as privileged as it is corrupt, his real name is Darling Cruel - and he is heir to the government Zarya wants to overthrow. No one has ever seen the real man behind the legend - no one except Zarya. But when she allows a weapon he designed to be used against his beloved sister, all bets are off.
Betrayed by the Resistance, Darling's goal is not only to reign, but to kill every Resistance member he can find. Zarya must stop Darling's reign of terror, but can she reach past his insanity to restore the hero who once fought by her side?

Wow, I don't know where to start. It is as hard to read as Acheron's; with all the torture and all, but this goes a little foo far. The takes torture for torture sake instead of adding to the story. I almost thought it was therapy of some kind, for who, I'm not sure. It is beyond what Ash had to endure, enough said.
The GOOD part of this book is the relationship btwn Darling and Maris, it is beautiful. And I look forward to continuing it with Maris's book, hopefully. Also, the humor and banter amoung the Sentella members is wonderful, it had me grinning from ear to ear. I liked this book better than Retribution, but not as much as Ash's book. Also, why is this series called The League when really, The League are minor characters at best. Anyway, I would recommend it only if you like the series and want to continue to be a part of the characters' journey. But I would NOT recommend it as a stand alone read.
Maris and Ture's book.
Yes, but it never will be.
A Book Addict who found she could clean house and get her book fix with audio books.
I love all of Kenyon's books and listen to most of them. This sci-fi series is great. But I will probably not listen to many more -- I will buy them instead. The audio is very similar in this series to The Chronicles and The Night Hunter series and for a fan that reads it all the same type of audio performance muddles the books.
And they are much too good for that to happen!
The story flows very well and with it being such a long book that is important. It didn't drag too long on any one part so it made me want to keep listening more and more.
Maris or Caillen, that both add such good comic relief from the real serious and depressing aspects of what occur in the book.
As always he is perfect. Cannot imagine anybody else reading the books.
"When secrets are revealed!!"
The action in this book isn't quite as good as some of the others but the story still keeps you wanting more.
Yes, every character is bold and amazing..
Original and absorbing,
I don't know if I would listen if not for Holter Graham. I would read.
All of it was captivating.
Loved the book. Loved the Narrator. Loved the Story.
Mr Graham. He reads really nicely.
Reads beautifully as always.
yes but i could not sit up for 18 hours. hehe Any of Sherrilyn's books you want to listen to all in one sitting. You just cant put any of her books down. I love the people she has chosen to read them. They are awesome.
All i can say is i love her books and the people she has to read them.
Great series! Make sure you start at the first one Born of Night. Sherrilyn Kenyon has created a world that is believable and wonderful. She creates an interesting group of characters and places them in intense situations. I have read all of her books and would recommend them to others. Changing the fact that Darling was not gay was totally covered and workable. Catching up on the lives of previous characters is great and adds to the fun.Keep up the great stories.
Narration was good and pleasing to the ear. A few pronunciation difficulties but acceptable. Nice mellow tones and inflections.
no. the unending detailed violence to Darling was enough the 1st time.
The graphic violence. It was too much. I found it very disturbing.
I love all the interaction between Darling and his Sentella friends. I also love Darling's relationship with Maris.
Love Sherrilyn Kenyon's books. They are so original with great characters. Holter Graham does a fantastic job.
of the 200 or so books I've listened to, this one is about number 3. I want to listen again, I'm glad I purchased it.
Zarya Starska - a powerful female lead, who has common sense, personal strength and is not fooled by initial appearances. She questions the status quo and sticks by her man no-matter-what.
Maris Sulle. Holter reads him as a gay man...but still a man. Maris is lovable, attractive, physically powerful, and self-confident, regardless of his surroundings. Maris seemed very real to me.
YES! I did listen in one sitting; earphones while laying in bed, speakers while driving to work!
Sherrilyn Kenyon writes with wisdom and insight. She seems to understand human pain, both physical and emotional. I can't wait for 'whatever' comes next!
Yes, I have listen to all the books in this series I would recommend any and everybody to listen or even read the books
I liked this audio book, but didn't love it. After listening to Born of Shadows and how Darling was described, I was disappointed by this Darling. In Shadows he is a lethal, but charming, rarely using foul language. In Silence he started off crude and got worse. Also, Kenyon uses “Sweetie” as an endearment for everyone in her books and it drove me crazy. I would have loved different people using different terms of endearment. I loved Marris and how he interacts with Darling.
I will continue to buy her books because I enjoy most of what she writes. I'll be looking forward to her next in the series.
Holter Graham does a wonderful job, but these are the only audio books that I have heard him on.
Overall, I would recommend this book, especially if you are a fan of Kenyon’s and of the League Series.
