Publisher's Summary

In a world where "witches, vampires, werewolves, and shape-shifters live beside ordinary people" (Booklist), it takes a very unusual woman to call it home. By day, Mercy Thompson is a car mechanic in Eastern Washington. By night, she explores her preternatural side. As a shape-shifter with some unusual talents, Mercy's found herself maintaining a tenuous harmony between the human and the not-so- human on more than one occasion. This time she may get more than she bargained for.

Have Mercy: listen to another Mercy Thompson chiller.

    "Mixed...."

This is a strong entry into the Mercy Thompson series, but the narration threw me....I usually love Lorelei King, and maybe I'm just too used to hearing her as Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, but her voice seems too light and upbeat for this series, and especially some of the subject matter in this story.

"The series continue to be great"

The forth book in the series starts two minutes before the last one ends. Mercedes Thompson steps up to the plate for her friends and for Adam. I love the way Briggs resolved the triangle in the last book and is moving the character arcs of everyone forward in interesting ways. Also, Briggs does not shy away from difficult issues.

This plot has to do with Vampires. All of your favorites are back, Stephan and Marceillia among them. We see a bit of the Faye and of course the werewolves. Lorelie Kings hits the ball out of the park, again.

The series continue strong. I recommend this book and I can't wait for the next one. What is Mercedes going to do next?

    "Get it!"

Briggs is such an amazing author! I read a LOT of fantasy, and this is one of my all time favorite series! This is the 4th book in the series though, so if you haven't read any of them yet, you should start with "Moon Called".

As for the narration, King does a fantastic job!

"Favorite Book in the series so far"

This was a great book! I enjoyed the focus on Mercy dealing with what happened to her in the previous book. The werewolves and vampires were a huge part of this book (less fae - Hooray).

    "LOVED it.."

Bone Cross starts at virtually the moment that Iron Kissed ends - Mercy is still dealing with the many problems in her life and trying to recover from a horrific assault that was the climax of the previous book. It would have been so easy for Briggs to wave a magic wand and make things all better, but she doesn't, Mercy goes through each emotion as any other person would, which earned my respect. Mercy finally decides to become Adam's mate, as she realizes its him she loves and not Samuel. Before they really have a chance to talk about anything though they are interrupted by Mercy's mother ( since she's just read about her daughters rape in the newspaper.)and Stephan dropping in - literally at their feet. He's burned and starved. He tells Mercy that the Mistress now knows all, has killed his donors and thrown him out of the Seethe. And, she's after Mercy.
Drawn fully into the pack through Adams actions to protect his mate,(who knew the werewolf magic would work on a coyote-walker but it does) mercy now has to help head off a full scale war between the werewolves and the vampires as she knows she is responsible for her own actions and must own up to them (actions that happened in the last two books.) She is still dealing with her random panic attacks and intimacy issues with Adam, who stands solidly by her side even when half his pack isn't in agreement with him for his choice in a mate or for bringing her into the pack. My only compliant is that this is also a romance story and a little bit of romance between Adam and Mercy would have been nice...The intimacy and I love you's are few and far between. Jessie's feelings are never mentioned nor is how the relationship is going to process. I can't see Adam being ok with his mate continuing to live with Samuel as a roommate for much longer. I'm hoping theses issues are resolved in book 5 and we get to see more romance between Mercy and Adam with them hopefully discussing wedding plans.
