In Book 2 of the epic adventure that began in Split Infinity, Stile discovers life on Proton and Phaze is getting more difficult. On Proton he's a serf trying to prove his right to exist by competing in the Great Games. And on Phaze, where only magic worked, he was the Blue Adept trying to master the powers of sorcery. On both worlds, someone was trying to assassinate him. And as if that weren't enough, he has to win the love of Lady Blue, fight a dragon, discover the ultimate weapon, and of course, seek out the all-powerful Citizen who was trying to kill him!

I like scifi and urban fantasy. I don't like romance novels. If you are the same my reviews should help.
Yes, the narrarator does a good job and improves on what was written with his voice acting.
The characters need more development. Piers Anthony books read more like a transcript of a D&D game that a novel. All he does is present a scenario and show how the character uses his skills to solve it. The characters are all very one dimensional, if he developed characters more the story would be better. That being said the author is very good at what he does. He makes a ton of money and doesn't have much motivation to change.
Yes, the narrarator does a good job as always.
The story is much weaker than the first novel, but this one is still worth a listen, especially if you are like me and are re-living books you loved as a child. Be warned the writing quality of the series is bad after this one. I would not advise going beyond the third book. The series reaches a satisfying close and all the books beyond that are not good at all. they seem like the author was just churning anything out with the series name for a buck.
This is book 2 of the Apprentice Adept series. The others are: "Split Infinity" and "Juxaposition". This trilogy is the stronger story line ing the series.
Yes. In fact, I listened to "Juxaposition" in one setting.
This is a wonderful trilogy! I first read it as a Science Fiction Book Club offering, in college. I was fastinated with the Game Computer Annex. I loved hearing it again on Audible.com. It is a good choice for listening because the point-of-view is first person narrative. It is like the main character is telling you the story.
I am married with a teenage son and run my own business. As I am visually impaired, audio books are my life.
I've had this audio sitting on my ipod for ages and tried it a few times but couldn't get into it. Then I found out there was a book 1 so I listened to it and then fully enjoyed this one. Looking forward to the next one in the series. The thing that spurred me on to try this one was the reviews from others who also agreed it was pretty good.
a Tech Exec who loves the stories about what could be and what should have been. Mixed with histories told from an outside perspective.
Continuing my trek through classic Sci-fi. The second in a series...these are more on the paperback/dimestore short story and fun for their shallowness and brevity, being a relaxing read for those that enjoy the genre. Good writing does not always require thousands of pages. Plus, they are fun and help me relive where I was when reading them for the first time.
I like all the Piers Anthony books, and this one just continues the story line.
This book was awesome. Everything in it and such a good cliffhanger for stile to deal with.
