Between heaven and hell, man and demon, she's about to face the one thing she may not be able to survive.
Welcome to the world of Kara Gillian, a cop with a gift. Not only does she have the power of "othersight" to see what most people can’t even imagine, but she’s become the exclusive summoner of a demon lord. Or maybe it’s the other way around. The fact is, with two troublesome cases on her docket and a handsome FBI agent under her skin, Kara needs the help of sexy, insatiable Lord Rhyzkahl more than he needs her. Because these two victims, linked by suspicious coincidence, haven’t just been murdered. Something has eaten their souls.
It’s a case with roots in the arcane, but whose evil has flowered among the rich, powerful, and corrupt in Beaulac, Louisiana. And as the killings continue, Kara soon realizes how much there is still to learn about demons, men, and things that kill in the night - and how little time she has to learn it.

i would recommend this book. i think it is a good second installment in this series. i will definately get the third. I feel there is a lot of potential here, and the author is just getting the ground work down. interested to see where this all goes. there is still self doubt with the lead character Kara. She doesn't yet see her own potential and value but she is definately growing. Her power is growing and taking an interesting turn. The mystery is good, the crime scences are descriptive but not as shocking as the first book, not quite as dark. the romantic/sexual tension is good. The narration is good as well. give it a try. i would say you should start with the first book because it flows better that way. you don't want to miss how Kara got where she is, however they recap enough in this book you would get the basics.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
I want to thank Audible for getting book two in this series before I went on to book three. Previously I had purchased book one and loved it but Audible didn't have book 2 yet. They did have book 3 and I was unhappy 2 wasn't avaliable. Anyway I saw it was about to come out a few days after I listened to the first one, so a BIG thank you.
This is very interesting. I always like a story with a new idea that I haven't listened to before and this one covers it. Demon summons and police work combined is just a good but unusual combination for me. There is not much sexual content in this book, but like I've said before, a interesting book doesn't need it. I enjoy all the different types of demons and their characteristics. Kara is an interesting character and I enjoy her realtionships with her co-workers, family and the demonkind. It makes for a thirst for the next book. Due to the circumstances in this book I do think things are only going to get better.
It's a Yes from me on credit worthiness.
The plot was really intricate, and the characters always keep you guessing. Just when I thought I knew what was happening I was thrown a curve ball. I love that about these stories.
I really like Kara. She is a bit awkward but, incredibly strong and smart.
Her way of bringing each character to the surface.
Never cross a summoner
Great second book! Looking forward to the next one :) Worth a credit for sure.

I enjoy a good whodunnit murder mystery, and that's precisely what BLOOD OF THE DEMON was, but with a paranormal edge. I'm still not entirely sure what's up with Ryan (although I do have a few guesses), and the Rhyzkahl thing was inevitable, so even though Kara's path is a tad predictable there's still a sizable chunk of unknowns to keep listeners engaged. Liv Anderson is definitely a narrator that I would recommend, especially when paired with Diana Rowland's writing style.
I like Fantasy & Science Fiction but not into Zombie. Due to Health issues, listen to Audiobooks/read ebooks where I can enlarge the print
A great series and i just tried for Book 3 which is supposed to whispersync to.
But whilst Book 1,2 and 4 have the matching kindle and Audible titles available book 3 does not(at least in Australia) go figure. I have reported this issue to audible many times in the past and get a generic or mainly no reply and writing this here will get this wiped
I recommend this series to those who like Fantasy/mystery/police, in the case of the mystery/police the probably like this better if the don't mind tales that take them out of there comfort zone
The narrator Author do a wonderful job of immersing you into the characters and the story
Still a great book with lot of potential, for future entries in the series. I just wish the mystery component was more mysterious.
It was a very enjoyable story. I just has a problem with the heroine, (as well as everyone else for that matter), of the story swearing worse than a drunken sailor on shore leave.
Kara Gillian is truly an enjoyable character. Liv Anderson really made me feel like the voice was that of Kara.
The foul language detracted from what was a very good story and idea. The subsequent books are just as bad until you get to #5. Then the swearing begins to fade somewhat.
Say something about yourself!
After going back to re-read book 1 of this series, Mark of a Demon. I was ready to read book 2. I was left confused with the first read of book 1. Not understanding the arcane and why summoning was important. I gave the book another try and enjoyed it.
Book two was even better now that I understand what the main character is about. Detective kara Gillian is a summoner of Demons. She uses this as her "hobby/entertainment". Also to assist her in her job.
I enjoyed listening to this side of the supernatural. There are a few new creatures which is always fun. The mystery was great. I had the wrong person/thing pegged as the guilty one. Plus there was some good sexual tension going as well. Being only 2 books in I will say we need more romance but I am hopeful that will come with the next book. There is a great setup for it.
Narration was great as well!!
So very much, as I would the series, Dians writes great stories and Liv Andetrson narrates them very well.
Much to do with the development of her new abilities and the interaction between characters.
Liv Anderson is a truly awesome narrator and I would certainly buy books she narrates.
Again more from the series.
Diana Rowland is an awesome writer and in my mind amount the greats like Ann Rice, John Ringo Chris Fieldwater Mary Stewart Kim Harrison and Kevin Hearne.
