Publisher's summary

Before there was a modern-day town called Dark Moon Vale, there was an ancient kingdom nestled in the Transylvanian Alps. Before there was a primordial species called the Vampyr, there was a celestial race begotten of gods and men. Before light battled shadow, the sacrifice became mandatory, or the first Blood Moon adorned the celestial sky...

There was The Curse.

A punishment. An abomination. The ultimate act of vengeance.

And it was placed upon a people so corrupted by their thirst for blood and dominion that they awakened the souls of the slain and became the souls of the damned.

Young, beautiful, and in the prime of her life, Jessenia Groza is not ready to die. Yet she has been condemned by Prince Jaegar's men, slated as a sacrifice to the gods.

Timaos Silivasi would gladly risk everything - his power, his privilege, his celestial heart - to save his one true love, but fate has a plan of its own...

For this couple. For this civilization. For this lost race of warriors, who will never be the same.

Every legend has a beginning.

Too short

This story was very short and did not shed light on many questions I had about the original brothers

Do you really know the curse?

What did you love best about Blood Genesis?

I love that we get to see how it all came to pass. Seeing it through the last surviving female. The ultimate sacrifice and promise of an ancestor to the Silivasi's.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jessenia without a doubt. Courageous and kind. Loving and forgiving. She is the ultimate heroine in my opinion.

Have you listened to any of Eric G. Dove’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Eric always bring great dimension to the books. This one is no different.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely, and I did. I was engaged in the story. Tessa Dawn's gift of storytelling is amazing and hearing Eric bring it to life kept me listening to the end.

Any additional comments?

If you've had a chance to hear the rest of the Blood Curse Series you MUST hear this audiobook, you won't be disappointed.

Outstanding! One of a kind

What made the experience of listening to Blood Genesis the most enjoyable?

Eric Dove is a master story teller, he breathes life to the amazing words Tessa Dawn writes I found myself utterly transported to a time and place that left me mezmorized

What other book might you compare Blood Genesis to and why?

I don't think I'd compare any book to Blood Genesis, it truly is a unique one of a kind and yet of course prequel to the Blood Curse Series.

What does Eric G. Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Life and vivid emotion, its hard to read men's emotions from a female point of view but hearing it, theres magic in that.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself enthralled from the very first words, it's not a long book by any means but it explains so much about perhaps how characters in the Blood Curse Series act the way they feel, the reasons that they are who they are. An absolute recommendation from me.

Any additional comments?

Tessa Dawn took this book out of the "ball park" it's beautifully written and has such depth and emotion. It can be read alone of as a prequel to the Blood Curse Series. I have already read it numerous times to take everything in and now I like to sit here and listen to Eric bring those magical inspirational words to life.

The Wrath Of Women Scorned! The Curse Begins....

Where does Blood Genesis rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would rank this book right at the top! I own both editions, the kindle version as well as the audible version and they are both AMAZING! (However, if I had to choose, I would choose the audio edition.) The narrator really has a knack of bringing the story's to life!

What other book might you compare Blood Genesis to and why?

I am not sure that I can compare any book to Blood Genesis; this is truly an amazing prequel to an INCREDIBLE series, The Blood Curse Series. Way to go Tessa!

Have you listened to any of Eric G. Dove’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

As I stated above, this narrator is incredible! Eric really has a way of making it seem as if you are in the book, actually visualizing the scenes as they "POP"off the pages of the books he narrates!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

And the story begins....
The Blood Curse... the dark, corrupted beliefs that started it all. Twin brothers of royal birth. One brother so sinister and evil that all he will be able to leave his legacy is to live on the blood of others and exist in the dark. The other brother and his posterity; while still cursed will rise above the darkness and be able to live and love in the light!

Any additional comments?

A classic tale of dark vs. light; good vs. evil! If you are looking for an edge of your seat series; The Blood Curse Series IS FOR YOU! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Some have talent - others have a GIFT!

Okay, so there is no doubt that this is a dark and tragic and triumphant story all in one, and it’s amazing how Tessa Dawn wove it together. The thing about her Blood Curse Series that is so unique and compelling is that she managed to completely reinvent the history and mythology of vampires while someone staying true to some of the popular folklore and history at the same time. There is simply nothing out there on the market comparable – these are not just another dime-a-dozen vampire story. For me, Blood Genesis simply underscored the brilliance of Tessa’s world building and imagination. This is where it all begins, and for those who might be worried that it’s a sad, tragic series…don’t! This was the foundation for all the later books, the story behind the Curse. What her vampires do going forward is as amazing and descriptive as her writing. Well done! Fantastic job, as always, by the narrator, Eric Dove. He really brings some extra spice that you just wouldn't get reading it in your head!

AN ANCIENT CURSE TOLD BY A MASTER STORYTELLER!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Blood Genesis to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed reading and listening!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Blood Genesis is a bit different from the other Blood Curse Series books because it’s the prequel. It tells readers about the origin of the world Tessa has invented and how it came about. It is poetic, heart wrenching, vivid, and powerful! And Eric Dove does a wonderful job bringing it to life. Kudos to a master storyteller!

Sweeping BCS Mythology Begins with Blood Genesis

Where does Blood Genesis rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I was transfixed, listening to the audio version of Blood Genesis. The mythology was so powerful, the characters, so raw and emotive, I had a difficult time pulling myself out of the story. While this work is considered a "short" novel, the mythology wrapped up succinctly and I found it to be the perfect length.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Timaos, of whom the Silivasi brothers descended from, was riveting. His "voice," and presence, through Eric G. Dove's narration, was hypnotic. The love he demonstrated towards his soulmate, Jessenia, was empowering, and strangely, even as "just" a reader of this story, I found myself filled with hope and purpose.

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

The passion in Eric G. Dove's performance was clearly evident in "Blood Genesis," as well as the other titles in Dawn's Blood Curse Series.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was literally absorbed in this work, able to "feel" what the characters were feeling, fear what the characters feared, and love / hate whom the characters gave their allegiance and hatred to.

Any additional comments?

"Blood Genesis" is a thoroughly absorbing audio book, one which I highly recommend at any point in your Blood Curse series reading. Enjoy!

Oh Tessa..how you and Eric....tease us !

Short but Sweet.

This series is so freak- in …Good !!!!

I could talk about the characters “All Day Long”…LOL I don’t want to rob anyone the joy of experiencing it especially since it is short….so I'm going to take the advice of that biker guy that screams out…” Damn it Donny…..don’t ad-lib”. I normally hate prequels especially since they are usually too short to waste my credit on and always seem to be read by narrators that aren’t good or doesn’t seem comfortable in the story rolls. Eric Dove is reading so we already know that is not going to be the problem here.

It is a good story. It does give a little more information on the beginning of the blood curse and shines a little light on the connection between Napoleon and the Silivasi’s. I did wish it was a little longer because it leaves you wondering and now I have questions on more points than the story tells us about. It was however a really good burp, and didn’t leave me disappointed I spent my whole big credit on it. It is a good prequel.
I guess that is the trait of really good writing/narrating ….It makes you want more…thus…my addiction to the Blood Curse series, which is rivaled only by my addiction to the Blackdagger Brotherhood series.

I will be sitting here….with my celestial credits waiting for the next book in this series to come out.
