Publisher's summary

Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places - and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shape-shift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind. But this new vampire is hardly ordinary - and neither is the demon inside of him.

Have Mercy: listen to another Mercy Thompson chiller.

such good stories

the stories are good, not too much fluff, but enough to build a solid story. the narrator is perfect for the reading.

Love the series, not the narrator

Ms King’s cadence, especially near the end of a chapter is distracting to the point of pulling me out of the story. This series is one of my favorites. Blood Bound is engaging and adds more to the overall world building of the Mercyverse.

I loved this book and loving series

Blood Bound was just as interesting as Moon Called. This series so far has definitely kept my interest in the entire book and I have fallen in love with the characters even more The narrator is awesome. I can tell the difference in all the characters.

favorite characters with some evil added in. Uncle Mike for the win!!

Listened to this after having read it a couple years ago and it still didn't disappoint. The narrator is Lorelei king and earlier this year I listened to her book storyteller so I was already familiar with the sound of her voice. She has a distinct ability to narrate and voice deep male voices that are scratchy and resonate and full while also carrying higher female voices and those with different accents. She easily carried me along the story and brought out so many of the characters so clearly that it was very easy to tell one from the other when listening. As with any good book when reading, I was able to listen and visualize the story in front of me and as I'm sure the author intended loved loved loved Jessie!! I'm grateful for the lightheartedness of her and gabriels characters otherwise this book would be awfully dark and heavy. Lots of vampire and fae and werewolf to feed the soul and hearing mercy sing was soooo perfect!! Much better than what I had envisioned in my head!!

Bit creepy

Mercedes comes into her own in this one as the instrument of justice with a side order of creepy from the vampire.

A Sequel that's better than the original.

BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front) - Moving from the Werewolf arena to the Vampire one, I found Blood Bound to be more exciting and captivating than Moon Called. Definitely listen to them in order as there are a few new characters, but this series seems to be furthering each characters development as the storyline progresses.

Plot - WIthout giving away any spoilers the book picks up a couple of months after Moon Called ended. The author does not spend a whole lot of time recapping every aspect of the Werewolf's but touches on the main points and get's right into the new dilemma at hand...Vampires. With the Vampires as the antagonists in this book it interesting to hear yet another author's rendition of the 5 W's with respect to Vampires. Because there was less time spent setting the scene (already taken care of in Moon Called) pretty much the entire 9+ hours was spent solving the crime and further developing the love "triangle" that spawned in the last book.

Narrator - Despite not being one of my personal favorites Ms. King once again does a good job. You'll rarely hear me complain about a narrator being brought back for the follow-on books and with a few exceptions I enjoy her voice inflections and ability to smoothly transition between characters through only using her voice.

Didn't want to stop driving...

This was my second book in the Mercy Thompson series and I was not disappointed in the least with it. There's a new vampire in town and he's brought a demon with him. The plot involves both the local wolf pack and the vampire seethe, even getting some of the fae involved. But it is Mercy's ability to speak to ghosts that is in high demand. We find Mercy tracking a demon/vampire who brutally killed others and even though she was scared she didn't let that stop her from fighting, I found myself holding my breath along with her as she went into each scary situation and eventually she saves the day and her friends. I loved the story, love the series and as I am writing this am downloading book 3 in the series, Iron Kissed. Lorelei King is once again an amazing narrator

Excellent overall, but the cadence can be wearing

Ms King tend to occasionally favor a habitual cadence over a more natural read, which I personally find annoying, but a part from that it is very well performed, and one of my comfort reads to boot.

Why?

Why is it that most books with a female lead always have a fling with at least 2 guys they can’t decide between? I find it so irritating when the book is interesting on its own merit without the flippant nature of the main character. If the roles were reversed and it was a male lead that went around kissing and leading on different girls, they would come off as a pig. Yet it’s one of the most common themes with a female lead. For that reason alone I am not going to continue with this series. If that is something that doesn’t bother you, the storyline otherwise is good.
