Publisher's summary

Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places - and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shape-shift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind. But this new vampire is hardly ordinary - and neither is the demon inside of him.

Have Mercy: listen to another Mercy Thompson chiller.

“A full bore action adventure with heart...be prepared to read in one sitting because once you get going there is no good place to stop until tomorrow.” (SFRevu)

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

Blood Bound

Wonderful series! The author and the reader are an incredible team. This series is a great mixture of fantasy, suspense, action and romance. The characters are really rich and fun. The romance between the two main characters really enhances the story, but doesn't bog the story down. I don't read romance novels, but a little romance and sex in a book like this is fun. The author develops the romance between the two characters thru the series and makes it intriguing to watch. It's fun, sexy and easy to believe. Each book is complete enough to stand alone, but it's better to read the books in order since some things are built on what occurred in a previous book, but not dependent on it. The reader is really good and is able to develop voices and stay true to them thru the series; you know exactly who is speaking all the time. I highly recommend this series and have to a lot of people!

A Sequel that's better than the original.

BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front) - Moving from the Werewolf arena to the Vampire one, I found Blood Bound to be more exciting and captivating than Moon Called. Definitely listen to them in order as there are a few new characters, but this series seems to be furthering each characters development as the storyline progresses.

Plot - WIthout giving away any spoilers the book picks up a couple of months after Moon Called ended. The author does not spend a whole lot of time recapping every aspect of the Werewolf's but touches on the main points and get's right into the new dilemma at hand...Vampires. With the Vampires as the antagonists in this book it interesting to hear yet another author's rendition of the 5 W's with respect to Vampires. Because there was less time spent setting the scene (already taken care of in Moon Called) pretty much the entire 9+ hours was spent solving the crime and further developing the love "triangle" that spawned in the last book.

Narrator - Despite not being one of my personal favorites Ms. King once again does a good job. You'll rarely hear me complain about a narrator being brought back for the follow-on books and with a few exceptions I enjoy her voice inflections and ability to smoothly transition between characters through only using her voice.

Thank you "Vivian"

I just read the review from Vivian who complained there wasn't any swearing and sex never got past first base. That this is a 4+ star book without garbage "is" the reason I downloaded this and will now listen to it. I love great stories without having to flinch because of coarse and crude expressions that add nothing to the work except to irritate the inner senses. I hope it is as good as Vivian says! Love to get into new series and authors.

Very good listen...if not a tad overly PG

While I really enjoyed this book and the first in the series; however, it loses a star for me because the writer goes very far out of her way to never to use swear words and her characters never get further than 1st base despite everyone being very attractive, available, and interested in one another. It is too PG and too squiky clean, making the protagonist not human in ways other than being a supernatural being! It is the opposite of HBO or Showtime, where swearing and sex are gratuitous. This is a gratuitous lack of sex or swearing, to the point of being irritating. With this said I will listen to next in the series, but will have to steal myself against vicarious repression of animal insticts. It is like the Twilight series in this regard....but those are supposed to books for young teens. Is this?

Great Series gets better!

The whole paranormal thing has caught on -- and let's face it, some of the series are not that great. Not so with this one. Briggs writes a great character who has her reasons for being tough and self reliant. But Mercy changes over time, as she should, and watching the characters grow and develop is the real fun of reading this series. With a brilliant performance by Lorelei King, I highly recommend!

Action, Suspense and Great Charcters!

I really enjoyed listening to this book and learning more about "Mercy Thompson's" world.

There is action, suspense and great characters; I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series! (I only wished I had not waited so long to read these books!)

not a fan...

uh, yea this is way too PG / romantic for me. I expected a badass skinwalker she-killer, instead i got a mild mannered, sarcastic heroine. can't love 'em all!

Excellent 2nd story in series

A demon possesed sorcerer-vampire runs amuck in the Tri-Cities, and its up to Mercy Thompson, mechanic and coyote "walker" to rescue her werewolf and vampire friends. Very good story, second in the series, and we learn more about Mercy's background, watch her juggle a love triangle between two werewolf beaus, and in general kick-ass while staying likable and relateable. I love the narrator's performance! Excellent voices for each character.

This is a great series.

I took a chance trying out a new author when I got this book, and I am so happy that I did. The whole series is good. I like the fantasy and paranormal genre, but I've never been big on werewolves. This series changed my mind. If you like the Sookie series by Charlaine Harris, give this one a shot. The reader is EXCELLENT! Her voices are amazing.

love...quadrangle?

Poor Mercy! What's a walker girl to do, when all those big strong alphas are sniffing around? kick butt and take names, of course! this professional sounding book was very well done, and the choice of narrator was perfect.
