Publisher's summary

Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker who always takes care of her own - no matter the cost....

When Evan Trueblood blows into town looking for his wife, Molly, he’s convinced that she came to see her best friend, Jane. But it seems like the witch made it to New Orleans and then disappeared without a trace.

Jane is ready to do whatever it takes to find her friend. Her desperate search leads her deep into a web of black magic and betrayal and into the dark history between vampires and witches. But the closer she draws to Molly, the closer she draws to a new enemy - one who is stranger and more powerful than any she has ever faced.

Another great novel by Faith Hunter!

I love the book. I love story. I didn't really struggle to finish it but I did have to re listen to it a couple of times in order to keep the time line and figure a few things out but other than that it was a really good story and can't wait to read the next one.

More Vamps, More Problems…for Jane

You know, if I had a ‘friend’ like Jane…I would either have to talk to only through FaceTime & want to know every sort of protection spell there is available. LOL!
I like how we get to see more of a different side of Leo, although I would still never trust him as far as I could throw him (which for me isn’t at all…I’m not Jane. *smirk*)
I do like seeing more of the Everhearts & delving more into magic & (yeah, I admit) even Vamp politics. I think Jane really needs to learn learn about that to, it may come in handy one day.
So far each book in this series just seems to get better & better. The stories are well written, leaving just enough questions unanswered to keep you motivated to read the next book (Along with the short stories/novellas). I look forward to finding out what Jane has to deal with next & how she goes about it. The stories are gripping at times & exciting to listen to.
I can’t wait to get into the next book!

Molly And Her Family Are Back!!!!

Finally they are back... I missed reading about the little kids and knowing how powerful the little girl is. This addition had too many events packed into one book, you have some girls disappearing, Molly is nowhere to be found, and another vamp drama with security and so on.

I have really enjoyed this book, specially what our Jane did and had to do during it, which you will enjoy too.

And its ending was fantastic and thrilling... the next book will bring too many interesting events for sure.

Aunt Jane!

First Thought:

Ricky Bo is a bag of dicks!

What worked:

The action. The story. The writing. The narration.

I love this series and Faith Hunter has built a great world with a kick ass heroine with Jane and her Beast. I might now always like the romance parts of the series but everything else is stellar.

What did not work (for me):

Molly, Jane’s best friend, someone like a sister to her is missing and possibly in trouble/danger and yet I felt like for Jane that Molly was an afterthought. She spent more time worrying over the current vampire issues than saving Molly. Oh sure Jane’s new team of the Younger brothers was working to save Molly but Jane should have been more involved.

I’ve never liked Leo and I wish Jane would just stake him already.

Narration:

Khristine Hvam continues to make this series a real enjoy to listen to. I love her voices for and one I really enjoy but don’t get to hear a lot of is Angie Baby I was so happy that Angie was around in BLACK ARTS.

Final Thought:

I can’t want for BROKEN SOUL.

Oops

I don't know weather it was the recording or what but when Leo was talking the volume dropped and what was there sounded garbled. This was VERY surprising as this is the narrator for this series!

This book didn't get its normal 5 stars because it didn't seem to flow as well as her...Faith Hunter's....books normally do. Molly and her family reappear (YEA),,,,with much drama (scary, anxious)! Leo and her partner face true death.

No joke, Folks, there is a reason this one has a darker essence! Don't miss a moment or you will miss some wrap ups to some ongoing question! I want talk about Rick but I won't....no spoilers here. Remember my comment and come back and tell me your opinion.

Captures my imagination

If you could sum up Black Arts in three words, what would they be?

great story telling

What was one of the most memorable moments of Black Arts?

When Jane truly realizes that her beast is self aware

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

Lovely voice and easily distinguishable character voices

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

smile occasionally

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to seeing what all this author has to offer

Captivating.

A slightly different feel to this book. At times it almost reads like a mystery / detective story. And I liked it. A lot!

Tons of action, blood and magic (of course), but all tied to the flow of the story. A well written book this is.

Character development is excellent. Makes me want to continue reading this series, without the irritation of too many unresolved story lines.

And best of all. Hvam seems to have dialed down Yellowrock's southern drawl a bit. Either that or the great story made me notice it less. Now it's just a little annoyin'.
