Books speak to the soul.
I looked for book 2 immediately after listening to this one & couldn't find it on audio? Why disappoint me by not having it on audio?
This book enthralled me so much that I had to hear book 2....Still waiting. One of the best books that I've heard in awhile & I am an avid audiobook fan.
Active lifestyle so audiobooks fit in with nearly everything I'm doing.
Yes I believe I would just to see if I missed anything, but especially if it takes a long time to get the next book in the series.
There were several memorable moments. The slaughter of innocents, the awakening of the valor, Jordan's memories and the destruction created because of them, the meeting with her grandfather, and that refrigerator.
Boling has a good grasp of the story's flow and is able to bring bring all aspects of the characters to reality with her calm, deliberate voice.
I received this audiobook as a promotional gift from the author and audible.com but at first was wary since I've received other audiobooks from promotions and was not impressed. When the story started out I was again feeling disappointed but kept listening. The first two chapters were very frustrating because the reader is thrown into the main character's life without any explanation which makes it tough to follow, but by chapter 5 things begin to make sense and I wanted to hear more. There were times in the story when I was wondering if it was just another Heroes, X-men, or Harry Potter but the story developed nicely into it's own enjoyable entity. Thank you for the audiobook.
This book is really tough to get a handle on at first. It jumps all around and it is difficult to really get a read on what is happening.
The story takes it's time unfolding, slowly sharing it's secrets. I really liked Jordan and wanted to love her story. There are just so many things that were either unanswered or took too long to reveal.
The fact that most of the book is from her POV limits how much the reader knows. We only get things as she does, which isn't quick. The world building was much slower than I would have liked.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Bodine Boling, who is excellent. Her compelling narration keeps you listening, even when the book feels slow. She has a steady swift read that keeps things moving. I really enjoyed her voices and the distinctions between the charters. She has a soothing yet youthful tone. I would love to find more of her reads.
While the story was difficult to get a grasp on, I was pulled in and curious to see what happens next. Perhaps the next book will answer more questions. This book is a very intriguing concept and Jordan is a compelling character.
