But in those years, the Cylons developed new Cylons that looked and acted like humans, with one goal in mind: to destroy all humanity! When they suddenly attacked the Twelve Worlds, humanity's extinction seemed inevitable.
Only a single warship survived the massive attack: Battlestar Galactica, the oldest ship in the fleet, ready to be decommissioned and turned into a museum. Commander William Adama, himself set to retire, had but one course: to marshal the meager forces available, a ragtag crew of misfits and green recruits, to prevent their enemy from wiping out the last vestiges of the human race. But the Cylons, stronger, smarter, and driven to destroy their creators, may just be too powerful for them and all of humanity to survive.

"Even if you're not normally a fan of the genre, you may find that this Battlestar is smart enough and entertaining enough to win you over." (USA Today)
This audiobook is indeed the first few episodes of the (new) BSG. The narrator was very effective. This book was actually a good thing for me -- I bought this first, and then was enticed to go watch the series. It hooked me, and I am glad I heard this, as it helped fill in some backstory history (better than the TV episodes did), and provided some additional personality to the characters. Of course, like the ongoing tv series, don't expect any nicely wrapped up conclusion, just a story arc.
If you watch BSG, and don't like hearing the same story twice, then don't buy this, you will be bitter if you do.
But BUY this if you don't mind hearing the start of the story again, this time with a little more colour. And I highly recommend this to anyone who isn't watching the new series, but is interested in what it is all about -- it will set the stage nicely.
Audible has been very good too me. Listening to these books helps me relax.
Just sitting back spinning up the FTL drive and enjoy.
Not a frakin one. No really, I was around when this story was one T.V. with that guy that sells dog. This time around was totally different. Twisted!
Mr Davis's makes sure each character glow with; his, special tonallity of performance.
Keep watchin it over; you will get it.
MORE! MORE! MORE! Yes would like to see the rest of the story put to audio. And if is you have my credit. Thanks
This book is the start of some thing i watched when i was a child. In audio it now comes to life again as a vast and amazing title. Get it and listen to it. I can't wait till the next one comes out.
This version is less content than the first season which aired over 2 years ago. This information was not posted when I purchased it. Be warned, you're only buying 1/5 of the entire series to date. Aside from that, the audio matches the tv series perfectly with a few added emotions
BSG is all about strong and very well developed characters, science fiction that does its job in providing the elements needed to push the story forward while being very well grounded in reality, and a fantastic story building that keeps the audience on the edge.
My favorite scene is the one where Adama informs the Galactica crew that all the major Battlestars were destroyed and that there were reports of attacks in most of the colonies with devastating effects. That's when everyone aboard the ship realize that their lives have changed forever and that from that moment they were at war.
Mr. Davis did an excellent job narrating this title, but I feel like he could given a little bit more of variety into the voices of the different characters.
I had watched the miniseries and all seasons of the TV show, so I came into this audiobook with a full understanding of the story. It was a really good experience nevertheless, I loved to revisit the story in a different format. There's always bits and pieces of detail that were not so evident in the show, and it gives you a new perspective into what some characters were feeling during key points in the story.
Awesome story, great narration. Abridged yes but the BSG junky will still love it! The only thing that would make it better is if the following seasons were available too. So Say We All!
