Around the world humans are hallucinating after sleepless nights.
In a sterile, underground institute the forecasters keep reporting the same events.
And in the backwoods of Texas, a 16-year-old girl is about to be caught up in a fierce, ethereal battle.
Meet Roya Stark. She drowns every night in her dreams, spends her hours reading classic literature to avoid her family's ridicule, and is prone to premonitions - which are becoming more frequent. And now her dreams are filled with strangers offering to reveal what she has always wanted to know: Who is she? That's the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out. But will Roya live to regret learning the truth?

I love this audiobook! It has an intriguing storyline, strong main character and exciting dream travel! I highly reccomend this audiobook.. Cannot wait to read the next book!!
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
I liked the narration and the variety of characters!
This is a very interesting story, kind of a Divergent, Hunger Games cross....I can see this series really taking off!
No, but I would any time!! She is an excellent narrator!
It is a little to long too, but near the end, I did not want to put it down!
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
This was a bit of a rough starter for me...it took me awhile to bond with Roya...she has a very negative attitude in the beginning...but it all changed for me when she received her first gift of clothing from her friends that actually recruited her. Roya is a dream traveler and comes from a very strong line....she goes to the Lucidites institute to develop her gift and compete for the opportunity to be there champion, and fight Zwang, who is basically feeding off other dream travelers and ultimately sucking there life out of them...she is not thrilled about this....well she becomes part of a team of very talented young people who all have gifts too...and ends up fighting for her life and the ultimate outcome of the world...there is a love triangle and secrets revealed and it was a really interesting listen! I will continue this series!!! :)
Thank you Audiobookblast(dot)com
This was not at all what I was expecting, I went into thinking dream walker and in a way it is, but it's also so much more. It's a story of one girls struggle to find out who she is and why she gets these strange dreams.
I liked Roya. She has had a really tough life and I felt sorry for her, but she didn't let it drag her down. She tried her best with everything and did all she could when needed. At first she didn't buy into the whole prophecy deal and I liked that because it felt real, but then she went into it whole heartedly and did what was needed.
Plot wise, it was quite slow to start but once it picked up it was fast paced. I liked finding out about the prophecy and what it involved, I also loved finding out about the abilities that some of the Lucidites had. The institute was also quite fascinating. I liked the idea of them training for dream walking and learning how to hone their gifts. The evil foe was well described though I would of liked to have seen a little more of him during the story, not just relegated to the end.
In all this was a really good read. It had a lot going for it and I flew through the pages. Its and interesting and intriguing story and one I wouldn't mind revisiting.
Elizabeth Klett did a great job narrating this. She knew how to ramp up the tension and she also did an amazing job of bringing Roya to life. She made me feel so sorry for her!! I would definitely recommend the audio of this because it was fantastic.
*I received a copy of this for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*
Professional Actress and Audiobook Narrator. Lifetime Story Teller.
Taking us into a new world view where dreams can be altered manually and people can travel through space and time, author Sara Noffke, does a fine job creating a new and unique young adult storyline. Although, the story jumps right into the middle of the 16 year old heroine, Roya Stark's, battle between "good and evil", which can see forced at times, it eventually fills in the back story as your engage the multiple layers of this novel. The only thing that I got snagged on was this 16 year old's love triangle. It just seemed to be too much, too fast for such a young girl to be going through with two other young people. But they do say hormones run wild in teens, right?
Narrator Elizabeth Klett did a fine job bringing to light the multitude of characters in this novel. She has "teen" voices down to a 'T' which made the story come alive for me. I most appreciated her pacing and willingness to portray emotions through the words she read.
I would recommend this book to all.
This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
Okay so I listen to audio books generally on my drive to and from work and at the gym. One of the key indicators of a great audio book is one where I don't mind if traffic is slow that day or if I get a few extra sets in at the gym.
It is certainly one I looked forward to! The story just kept pulling me. I think one of the strongest aspects of this book is the characters. Normally on an audio book it can be difficult if there are too many characters. This one beats that by creating multiple characters that have depth and also great narration by Klett.
This is certainly one to pick up. I have a feeling that Sarah Noffke is going to be an author on the rise.
The first in the Lucidites series is a very enjoyable audiobook. The author creates a captivating world where the actions of Dream Travellers in their dream state not only effects them, but can also have effects on everyone else in the world as well. Roya Stark is a typical teenager in that she has mood swings, is somewhat insecure about her abilities and emotions, and often feels alone and that she doesn't quite fit. Her life and family relations have been difficult and then, to make things even more complicated, she discovers she is a Dream Traveller, the prophesied champion of the Lucidite society and is slated to battle the evil Zhuang, who is destroying people with their dreams. The book wastes no time in getting started and you are pulled into the story from the very beginning. A mix of tech/sci-fi and fantasy this book melds the two genres together very well, with some great gadgets and characters with a mix of supernatural abilities. It took me a bit of time to warm up to Roya's character but once I did I really enjoyed her personality. She is tenacity, tough, slow to trust but has an underlying strength and loyalty that makes her grow on you. I loved the development of the secondary characters in the book, they all had depth and distinct personalities that the narrator managed to portray, from Winny's shyness to Ren,s sarcasm, she did an excellent job bringing them all to life. The only character I found a bit flat was the villain, Zhuang. The developing love triangle and Roya's reactions to the brewing romances, I thought was typical of a 16yr old who is unsure of her feelings and doesn't want to "burn her bridges." It will be interesting to see how the maturing teen copes with this in the next books. This book has humour, romance, suspense, excitement, a captivating storyline and really appealing characters. I loved the development of the relationships between the various characters and the unique world the author is creating, it is a must read series.
Yes definitely! LOVED this book! Such an intriguing storyline, strong main character and exciting dream travel! Will definitely be recommending this book to all my friends and family. Cannot wait to read the next book!!
Felt like a cross between Divergent and The Hunting Games with a twist of Inception! Amazing and exciting book with so many layers!
Absolutely! Couldn't stop! Got it for a road trip and hated having to stop for gas because I didn't want to stop listening!
Sarah Noffke please don't ever stop writing!! I will read anything that woman puts out!!
This was an amazing story with complex, relatable characters. It's refreshing to read a book with a new concept! And I love that there was so much humor & snark mixed in with more serious situations. I plan to start book 2 immediately!
seems like your typical storyline novel but i just loved it. and couldn't put it down. immediately bought the next two before wven finishing the first and cant wait to start them
Self proclaimed book junkie!
I was gifted this title by the talented Ms Klett in exchange for a honest review...
Now, with that out of the way...any fan of the Divergent or Hunger Games trilogies will really enjoy this book. Having grown up an outcast in her family and community, Roya finally finds a place of her own with the mysterious Lucidites. Our young reluctant heroine is thrust into a dangerous situation with, literally, the fate of the world on her shoulders. Along with her team they set out to end the threat to the middlings, dream travelers, and the world in general. This has the potential to be a great YA series and Elizabeth Klett does a fantastic job narrating.
