Publisher's summary

From an extraordinary voice in fantasy comes the stunning conclusion to the Farseer Trilogy, as FitzChivalry confronts his destiny as the catalyst who holds the fate of the kingdom of the Six Duchies...and the world itself.

King Shrewd is dead at the hands of his son Regal. As is Fitz - or so his enemies and friends believe. But with the help of his allies and his beast magic, he emerges from the grave, deeply scarred in body and soul. The kingdom also teeters toward ruin: Regal has plundered and abandoned the capital, while the rightful heir, Prince Verity, is lost to his mad quest - perhaps to death. Only Verity's return - or the heir his princess carries - can save the Six Duchies. But Fitz will not wait. Driven by loss and bitter memories, he undertakes a quest: to kill Regal. The journey casts him into deep waters, as he discovers wild currents of magic within him - currents that will either drown him or make him something more than he was.

Great Series and Narration

Love the series. My only complaint is that sometimes it seems like certain points are reiterated more than necessary. Aside from that, it's a great story!

Great conclusion to great series

Bringing a series home is often hard. You've built up momentum and expectations, and often created a situation that appears hopeless. In order to give any semblance of a positive ending, you have to change the rules somehow, without leaving the reader feeling like you've cheated.
Robin Hobb's Assassin's Quest accomplishes all these things quite well. A great cast of characters enters into a really dark time, and they are all changed in ways that are at once heart-wrenching and believable. Villainy is revealed to make sense hints dropped in the preceding books. The rules are changed, but in ways you can believe you might have seen coming. And there is wonder and terror to spare.
Paul Boehmer's performance here, as in the previous books brings the emotional turmoil and terrible choices of our protagonist characters into sharp focus. This is a great example of the value added to a fantastic story by a great narrator.

Was expecting a disappointment.

Thia finale didn't fall completely flat. Although, the ending seemed quite rushed to wrap up.

AMAZING STORY!!

I absolutely LOVED these books! This author is a true fantasy artist. The story wasn't drawn out for 14 ridiculous books, the characters were believable and relatable, and the fantasy part was realistic enough to keep my imagination in line.

good addition

interesting story premise and good execution. prose is flowing and well descriptive however can potentially be a slog for those who are not frequent readers of this style of story, I say this as while I enjoy it I know some may think it too verbose. expansive world building well displayed. well fleshed out characters. clear character growth. over all enjoyable.
narrator has good pace, enunciation, good audio quality, good accent mimicry. lacks vocal range but still gives each character their own tone and brings them to life.

Coule have been better, but worth the listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Overall it was a great trilogy read by a great narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the constant fear of failure throughout the trilogy. Fitz is not perfect by any standard, but his pain is believable and his successes satisfying.

Very good

This whole series was good. A few Exclamations of "Oh get on with it!" or "you already explained that twice" (the author likes to go back a reiterate major plot points,,, repeatedly.)
However the plot was very entertaining and well conceived. I always dislike when the author makes the main character blissfully ignorant in order to conceal plot, when it is painfully obvious. This happens a few times but not overly so.
The Narration was masterful.
