Publisher's summary

The planet is called Banshee. The air is unbreathable, the water poisonous. It is the home of the most implacable enemies that humanity, in all its interstellar expansion, has ever encountered.

Felix is a scout in A-team Two. Highly competent, he is the sole survivor of mission after mission. Yet he is a man consumed by fear and hatred. And he is protected not only by his custom-fitted body armor, the culmination of 10,000 years of the armorers' craft, but also by an odd being which seems to live with him, a cold killing machine he calls "the Engine."

A favorite along with The Mote in God's Eye. This is my third read! Great

Great Narration, Good Story

I had a tiny bit of trouble getting into the story, but I think it's because the writing has an old feel to it. Kind of stately and formal. Felix's story is what really kept me in. Crow's story was a bit less interesting to me, though it dovetailed well enough with Felix's.

Glad I stuck with it through the disjointed part

Almost quit in the middle when the story took a big jump. Overall, a good sci-fi yarn.

Easily 1 of my top 10 books

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, and I already have! When I talk to people about Audible, this is one of the first stories that I mention, and recommend.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Armor?

I don't want to spoil anything... However, one of the most memorable, at least for me, is when Jack encounters the ancient passage, and reads it with a passion that grips me to the core.

What about Tom Weiner’s performance did you like?

Good. Although as someone else mentioned, the use of a female voice actor, at least for the female parts may have made this even better.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, multiple times... In fact, this was the first one I copied to my iPod, and it stays there for an easy replay.

Any additional comments?

Thanks for having this book. When I was thinking about trying out Audible, this is one of the books for which I first looked.

A refreshing original!

I never thought I would enjoy a si-fi, combat book, but I really, really did! I'm sure Stakely never meant Felix to be so sexy, but in my opinion, he is! I can't wait to download Vampire$. The reviews are very good.

Variation on Heinlein's "Starship Troopers"

Would you try another book from John Steakley and/or Tom Weiner?

Maybe, the descriptions weren't bad but the idea seemed recycled from one of my favorite authors.

Would you ever listen to anything by John Steakley again?

Perhaps, but it's not at the top of my list.

Any additional comments?

I called the ending pretty early in, and the villains other than the anti hero are rather one dimensional.

I had forgotten how good this book is.

Good plot that pulls you along. Great narration. A lot of background isn't explained and doesn't need to be. The whole story stands on it's own. I would have loved more from this universe, its kinda like Starship Trooers on steroids and without the political commentary (for the most part).

Epic, engaging

Hell of an audio performance. Deep, resonant speaker with great pronunciation.

Storyline seems hard to follow but it’s not you, it’s the story. And it’s a damn good one.

Great story and even better voicing

What really sold me about this story . Was who was doing the telling. The man voice had me from the first word. It’s an excellent story but with voice of who ever is talking I was actually inside the armor. Maybe it’s me but I had had great story that I couldn’t stand because of the actors voice
