Start at the beginning, in Another Fine Myth, as Skeeve, an apprentice wizard, meets the demon Aahz. Though it's not love, or even like at first sight they form a connection - saving their lives - between them. Follow them in Myth Conceptions, as Skeeve and Aahz test their talent when they decide to take on an entire army themselves and continue on in Myth Directions. Then Skeeve finds himself alone with his own apprentice applicant, a king, in Hit or Myth and must deal with a medieval Mob! In Myth-ing Persons living up to one's reputation can be murder. Can a Character Assassin who tries to discredit the team in Little Myth Marker break up the team for good?

Love epic sci fi and fantasy, but hate looking of really good books. So many duds out there. I am gamer too.
Out of all the books I read as a teen in the 80's, this is the one I was happiest to see to make it to audible. The wait has been long but worth it. If you ever read Stainless Steel Rat, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Disc World, or Xanth books, you will probably like this one, too. It is set along the lines of medieval times but bounces around many dimensions. The magic of this series is the trouble Aahz and Skeeve manage to get themselves into and out of. There is a lot of word play that is main source of the comedy and interaction. The part I always like best was all the weird and strange worlds and people that Aahz and Skeeve come across. Aahz is a little one dimensional, set in his ways and often falls back on his 'situational ethics'. Skeeve is little more well rounded as he comes into his own, showing a range of emotions and the goodness of his heart. How Skeeve could have ever became a thief, is beyond me, as he always feels guilt towards those he feels he has wronged.
The narrator does a good job, but I always imagined Skeeve with a little younger sounding voice, but after listening for a bit, that was soon forgotten. He gives all the main characters a unique voice that make listening enjoyable and easy to follow along.
Yes, have loved all the Myth's since childhood
I have been waiting years for this series to come out in audio. Have had the first 3 for near on 20 years, but was always disappointed the rest were not available. Now they are, YEA!!!!!
Noah Michael Levine was a new to me narrator and he was wonderful for this book I would definitely listen to him again…in fact I will listen to him again because I plan on listening to this whole series! But I would listen to him narrate other books too. He has a great range of voices, inflections and accents even though one character does sound like Sean Connery I didn’t care this narrator is the perfect fit for this book!
Oh this was so much fun! These books had been recommended to me years ago and have been languishing away on my TBR list since then, when I saw on audible that they were finally available on audio I jumped at the chance to give them a try, and now have another series to listen to 18 books I could go broke but this one was so much fun I must listen to more!
I loved all the characters in this book, I appreciated that the author let readers get to know them as they got to know each other it was a great bonding experience with the characters. I enjoyed the humor and frivolity and also the great story.
Skeeve is a magician’s apprentice, when his master is killed he ends up being an apprentice to a demon named Aahz as they bounce between dimensions to try to get Aahz back to his own dimension and restore his magical abilities and get revenge for Skeeve’s masters death. Along the way they meet so many great characters. I really liked that the author tells this story through dialogue we still get plenty of world building but it isn’t in overly done descriptions it is in the different characters explaining things to each other. I loved the ending, I don’t want to spoil it but the way they get one over on Issivan at the end is sooo great and not what I expected.
I will be listening to more of this series this is a short audiobook but well worth the credit I spent on it. If you are a fan of Pratchett and Adams I think you will enjoy this series too!
Mr Levine has done a very good job of bringing this book , with it's host of oddball characters and puns to life , and a few nitpicky details aside I have to say he did an exemplary job. I was used to the original reader of the series , and it takes a little getting used to , but he has a great range and there is a lot of fun to be had here. Please give it a try !
This series is a light read along the lines of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but in a fantasy genre rather than science fiction. If you like a light farce along the lines of P.G. Wodehouse or Douglas Adams, you will probably enjoy Asprin. Good escapism.
Listen mostly to urban fantasy and suspense/thrillers but also enjoy mysteries, sci-fi, fantasy, romance, adventure, classic, modern, spiritual or general literature. And I always like a bit of romance in any of my stories.
Like the others here I've been waiting for these books on Audible for a long time. I've read all the books in the series many times and have gotten more people to read these books than any another other series I've recommended. They're just plain FUN! Even if you don't normally read fantasy don't let that put you off. Many of those I've gotten to read these books also aren't fantasy fans yet love these. At heart they're stories about a goodhearted young man who brings out the best in those around him all while getting himself into (and out of) trouble. The fact that they are at times hilarious is an added bonus. Like others who have read the books before they may find that the voices Mr. Levine gives the characters don't match what you imagined but you soon adjust. For those experiencing these books for the first time he does a fine job so simply sit back and prepare to enjoy. Now I'm off to introduce my grandchildren to the wonderful world of Skeeve and Aahz.
When I found this on Audible it will be my third time with this series.
I enjoyed the interplay between the characters, and the snappy dialog.
He injected character into even the smallest appearances of characters.
I am knocking this book out in a day of listening.
Hey folks, Mr. Asprin has another series called Phules Company let's hope that gets the audio treatment as well.
Audiobook Junkie... Love all types of Science Fiction
I have been waiting to discover another good series in which to dive into and I believe this one has potential. In fact, after listening to Another Fine Myth by Robert Asprin I immediately purchased the next book and have enjoyed the sequel just as much as the first book in the series. There are 18 books in this series and thus more to look forward to listen. This book is a fantasy romp and the comedy had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. The narration is another big mark in this books favor and Noah Michael Levine is a name I will note to look for in the future.
Another Fine Myth is about a boy who is training to become a wizard. He is very new to the arts when he is introduced to a demon named Aahz. Events overwhelm the boy named Skeeve at the very beginning and it is not long before circumstances propel the demon Aahz to becomes his mentor as the two are forced upon a mission to stop evil sorcerer from taking over all the dimensions. With a pervert demon as his companion, Skeeve will travel to other dimensions, like the devils world, in order to save the clods. This is a bit cheeky and you will come to appreciate the joke in that if you give this book a try.
This book reminds me a bit of the Bartimaeus series due to the existence of a summoned demon who adds comedic effect by mentoring to a sorcerer. I use that as a comparison as well because what really brings this book alive is the narration by Noah Michael Levine with the demon voice of Aahz. This voice may rival Simon Jones take on Bartimaeus. A good narrator can make a bad book good. However, I feel the writing is well done and funny too, so that makes this better than good, and rather, great!
My dad turned me on to this book and this series nearly 30 years ago, and it's been a solid favorite all these years. Finding out they were now all on Audible (and even some I didn't know existed!) was a wonderful surprise, because now not only can I enjoy them again, I can share them with my daughter. Robert Asprin's tongue-in-cheek humor never gets old.
It took some getting used to the narrator, but he grew on me fairly quickly, and I really rather liked his 'Aahz voice.'
This is a great series, full of humor and really just fun. Very appropriate for teens though not written as teen fiction. I would highly reccommend it to anyone.
I read this in junior high. 20+ years later, I picked up the Audible version. I loved the characterizations and tempo. My 11year old son LOVES the story, and looks forward to listening to it again. I highly recommend this version.
"read and enjoy don't listen"
I've read all the myth Inc books to date and enjoyed them. I didn't enjoy the audio I think this is one of those issues where my imagination gave the characters distinctive voices and the narration doesn't do it for me. If you can read the books first.
"Top quality (Great characters )"
This is a top read, just finished listening to the audio book version which brought the characters to life, looking forward to the rest of the books in this series, downloaded the next straight away. If you like Terry Pratchett, the up and coming author John P Logsdon you will love this. Highly recommended 👍
