Publisher's summary

When an earthquake flattens New York City, the devastation is phenomenal and loss of life beyond comprehension. The world is in shock.

More than that, it is the first sign.

Only the chosen few can see it.

A firefighter, newspaperman, thief, engineer, bride, and a priest are all strangers across the country and are all thrown together. All of them believe it is the beginning of the end. Together they work diligently to try to save humanity and stop the inevitable.

But is it already too late?

For thousands of years it has been predicted. The prophesy has begun.

The mountains will crumble…and the Heavens shall fall.

The end is here.

great story

I really enjoyed the story. it was a refreshing change to other similar titles. However, I had a very difficult time with the narrator. The voice used made the character's sound either "dumb" or like a thug.
I almost stopped and returned the book, but I was intrigued by the story by then.

dull

Would you try another book from Jacqueline Druga and/or Gene Blake?

I would try another book from Jacqueline Druga but not Gene Blake

Would you ever listen to anything by Jacqueline Druga again?

Maybe

How could the performance have been better?

Gene Blake main narrative is alright, but when he tries to do other voices, it is horrible.]
The little girl in this book especially was bad, sounded like a cartoon character.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really as the author obviously did not put any effort in writing this story, just put together bits and pieces.

Any additional comments?

I have tried other of Druga books and they were not great but ok.
I thought at least she isn't using the F word and then she did.

I just can’t take the narrator

Usually I’m pretty forgiving but this guy is just so far off and so annoying. The main character and everyone else in the book sound like old men from the Bronx or Like a stereotype of some New York accent ? And you can hear his lip and tongue sounds when he talks.
I saw this book has now been released as a series so hopefully there will be new narration , I’m waiting for that.
