Publisher's summary

An Englishman's continuing search through space and time for a decent cup of tea

Arthur Dent's accidental association with that wholly remarkable book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, has not been entirely without incident. Arthur has traveled the length, breadth, and depth of known, and unknown, space. He has stumbled forward and backward through time. He has been blown up, reassembled, cruelly imprisoned, horribly released, and colorfully insulted more than is strictly necessary. And of course Arthur Dent has comprehensively failed to grasp the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

Arthur has finally made it home to Earth, but that does not mean he has escaped his fate. Arthur's chances of getting his hands on a decent cuppa have evaporated rapidly, along with all the world's oceans. For no sooner has he touched down on the planet Earth than he finds out that it is about to be blown up...again.

And Another Thing... is the rather unexpected, but very welcome, sixth installment of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. It features a pantheon of unemployed gods, everyone's favorite renegade Galactic President, a lovestruck green alien, an irritating computer, and at least one very large slab of cheese.

Life, the universe, and everything: listen to the rest of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series and related titles.

A fitting ending… or is it?

This is a 15 ending for the series, if it indeed ends here. Not exactly a happy ending, and you shouldn't expect that from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Eoin Colfer does a fine job emulating Douglas Adams. If I didn't know it, I would never say it wasn't the original author who wrote this — except maybe for the fact that this is a less bitter and depressing book than the previous two. Its tone is more in line with the first book in the series.

I'd recommend it to any Hitchhiker's Guide fan, diehard or not.

It's a little different

Compared to the first 5 this one has a different style to it. Which makes sense as it was written by a different author. There are a few audio hiccups that distract but over all not a bad addition to the Hitchhikers universe.

A Worthy Reboot, and a Worthy Tribute!

Would you listen to And Another Thing... again? Why?

I give this book a full place alongside the other 5 in the set.

What was one of the most memorable moments of And Another Thing...?

At first I was surprised that the book could exist at all (thinking that #5 had been "written into a corner" that it would be impossible for the characters to get out of) but then...well, let's just say my view of the zany Douglas Adams universe has been wonderfully expanded! :-)

What about Simon Jones’s performance did you like?

Getting Simon Jones to do the narration provided perfect pacing. I don't think it would have worked nearly so well without his narration.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is one of my perpetual favorites!

Any additional comments?

Rated PG-13 for mild profanity.

I enjoyed it but there was an audio glitch at the end, a little jarring

not a great sequel

it was okay.

way too many guide notes and didn't feel like the other stories at all.

the other books took about 5-6 hours to make it through and this one was over 10. I'm convinced that the extra 4 are purely unnecessary guide notes that we're rather repetitive and had no bearing on the story.

Just Not The Same

This one was written after Douglas Adams' death, and it just isn't even close to "the same". The characters are like cartoonish exaggerations of their worst traits while also being hollow. The comedic timing is all wrong, it doesn't have that wild absurdism that Adams brought to the table, nor his passion for theoretical physics, nor his biting social satire. It just feels like an empty cashgrab.

Improbably delightful

Surprisingly well done. Has its own voice while going to great lengths to pay homage to Mr Adam’s creation. Simon Jones is superlative.
