    "Good Plot. Great Narrator!!"

This is the second book that I have read in the series and I am really enjoying the series. The storyline has enough plot and ghastly happenings, there is action and dry humour and the narrator is really one of the best I have come across. I have already downloaded the next 2 books and am looking forward to spending some quiet time enjoying them!!!

    Story
"Search For the Unholy Grail, IN THE NIGHTSIDE"

IN THE NIGHTSIDE, if you go to Strange Fellows, you will meet several characters. You will only meet these characters IN THE NIGHTSIDE. You might meet Suzie shooter or Shotgun Suzie or Suzie, Oh Shit it's you IN THE NIGHTSIDE. You could meet Alex, ALEX COULD GLOOM FOR THE OLYMPICS. IN THE NIGHTSIDE, you get great descriptions, especially of women. One woman was EXCEDINGLY BLONDE. Another was SUPERNATURALY SLENDER and there was the woman with IMPOSSIBLY SLENDER LEGS. Only IN THE NIGHTSIDE.

If you have read book one and liked it you should like this one just as well. YOU ALWAYS WHERE A FRUSTRATED DRAMA QUEEN.

It don't matter which order you read these in. YOU PROBABLY WOULDN'T NOW WHAT TO DO WITH A NEWT'S EYE.

    "I just can't decide"

Parts of these stories are so well told it can bring a tear to your eye and part of it feels repetitive and part of it bugs me to no end. You'll have to find the good bits on your own. I'm not going to spoil it.

The repetitive, is the instance that anything out of this world is possible in the Nightside. That's fine, I got it the first time but it's repeated often and gets tiresome.

As for what bugs me, well there don't seem to be any rules in the Nightside and while that is all well and good it affords the writer to pull stuff directly from his.....collective....mind for convenience. Some times it just feels contrived and some time's it all comes together beautifully. That's irritating. I'm sure I'll listen to the next one if for no other reason than to see if I can decide whether I like this type of storytelling or not.

Then there is the narrator, he's the one thing I'd never change and I'll look for his work and try things just to listen to him. He's wonderful.

I like Jack Reacher style characters regardless of setting. Put them in outer space, in modern America, in a military setting, on an alien planet... no worries. Book has non moralistic vigilante-justice? Sign me up! (oh, I read urban fantasy, soft and hard sci-fi, trashy vampire and zombie novels too)

"A gross fairy tale for adults"

It's short and fast and the narrator is pretty good - dramatic but not over-the-top. This story is a bit better than the first in the series and the phrase "in the Nightside" was only repeated 20-30 times instead of 100-110 times as in the first one.

It's like a child's fantasy book (talking frogs, princesses, evil witches) except it involves gory, gross and rude characters instead. The characters are excessive, over-written and nonsensical, some seemingly put in just to be gory and gross. The story is like an attempt to tell a silly and gross fairy-tale for adults.

While I don't regret listening to it (again, it's too expensive for the length of the story) I think I'll call it quits on this series.

    "Green does not disappoint"

I very much enjoyed this performance. Marc Vietor does a wonderful job of bringing the characters and story to life. While you know that Taylor will win in the end (and learn a little bit more about his mother) the way he goes about solving his various cases is what the story is all about.

    "Biblical proportions, or?"

For the second book in the series, he manages to kick it off with a bang and a pretty good plot twist.

If you like the first book, you'll love this one.

    "Good read, plenty of surprises"

The first in the series was so good I thought perhaps he might run out of imagination and repeat himself. Not to fear. Many new aspects of the Nightside universe are unveiled. Secrets of old friends and locations are revealed. Now, what can he do to surpise us in the next book?

    Any additional comments?

The performance was very well done, the content just didn't grab my attention and imagination. It seemed to me a cross between Hellblazer and Dresden Files. I like both those, just not mashed together.

This story hosts Angels that come to the nightside. I believes Angels are alot more powerful than this story portrays them to be. I need not say more?

"Great for a quick fix of Angels and Demons..."

I've always loved the way Simon R Green can keep a fast pace going in everything I've read from him. This book was a little short but great for fun without too much front lobing. The narrator was perfect you can almost feel the disgust in his voice. If you liked this series then trust me your'll also like the Dresden FIles .
