Publisher's summary

Micah’s estranged father lies dying, rotting away inside from some strange ailment that has his doctors whispering about “zombie disease".

Anita Blake makes her living off of zombies - but these aren’t the kind she knows so well. These creatures hunt in daylight, and are as fast and strong as vampires. If they bite you, you become just like them. And round and round it goes...Where will it stop? Even Anita Blake doesn’t know.

Really good plot and Great way to top off 20 years

Where does Affliction rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Its one of my favorite vampire books, probably top 10. Obviously Anita has changed over the last twenty years but this is more a return to the earlier crime driven plots than before. It won't bring back people who hate the romance, but it is a really good addition to the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Affliction?

The plot in the woods with the chase scenes and later in the hospital. Amazing action and as always, Edward.

Which character – as performed by Kimberly Alexis – was your favorite?

In general, Kimberley Alexis does an amazing job switching between voices and an amazing vocal range. I love her Jean-Claude, but I really did come to audible to write this review because sometimes I cannot believe it is her doing all these voices and switching between them. She does accents and inflections very well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The big plot inflection point with Anita and her beaus, not going to spoil it.

Any additional comments?

Nope -- like I said just wanted to say the narrator (Kimberley Alexis') vocal range is amazing.

Kimberly Alexis has always sounded to me like what I think Anita would really sound like. I really liked the story, it felt developed nicely. This was a great listen!

AWESOME ANITA BLAKE STORY!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES, definitely! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. The added bonus of the extra sound affects was great! I wish more audio books would add these listening touches to their books! The storyline by itself was still great! I'm a big Anita Blake fan and I'm so glad this one lived up to the Anita character.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Affliction?

It's got to be when Anita was comforting Micah in the hallway - even though Anita was so angry with him, she was willing to put off talking about it and instead comfort him because of his dad's illness. She winded up talking to him about it anyhow, but only since he talked her into telling him what had her so upset.

Have you listened to any of Kimberly Alexis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to all of the Anita Blake books and Kimberly has done an excellent job with each and every one of them. Her voice is smooth and is so easy to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I wanted to listen to it all in one sitting but it was way too long to do this with - so I listened to it over the course of 3 days.

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - if I was going to say anything negative about this book it would have to be that sometimes it tended to take on a "classroom lecture series" throughout the book - very interested but a little too preachy at times. But I still loved the book!

Sexy

Would you listen to Affliction again? Why?

I love anything by Laurell K. Hamilton's. Her creation of Anita Blake reaches out to my interwoman that I am in charge. The book explores a different avenue into the lives of St. Louis and capativating as usual.

What other book might you compare Affliction to and why?

I had a hard time putting this one down like her book Black Obsidian.

Which scene was your favorite?

All - love the visualization she gives to the sex and the violence.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Micah discovers that his father is living the same life he does. This moment echos to me "why have I waited so long to see my family?" My other favorite part was the visual in the wording of the first zombie apocalypis.

Any additional comments?

I suggest anyone interested start with book1 and read them all.

The Crazy World of Anita

Would you listen to Affliction again? Why?

It is difficult to say why I enjoy this series. In polite society I might deny being a big fan but I am. The action, sex and men of every flavor? Maybe that's it?

Love

I'm biased I'm a big fan of the books before I got into audiobooks. The series really isn't for everyone but having read series for years, I've seen the main characters growth & it mirrors my own so it holds special place in my heart

ANITA BLAKE IS BACK !!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes indeed. However, I would suggest one read from the first book in the series in order to expierence the character developement.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Affliction?

I wa unsure who the bad guy was and that was pretty kewl. I loved being surprised.

Have you listened to any of Kimberly Alexis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Excellent as always. She is "Anita".

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when Dev, the tiger couldn't handle the killing. It was nice to see the other side of one of Anita's people.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the length of this book, it allowed you to get your teeth into it. I missed a bit of the romance, but less is more.
Thank you Ms. Hamilton for stretching our minds in the way we think about relationships. Because of your wonderful books my family and I look at the world differently, which is a very good thing.

Love, zombies and family

I have enjoyed all the Anita Blake books. This really shows how to mix life (her life) love and yet kill zombies. Hamilton has surprised me with her stories and how she keeps building Anita's friendships and lovers. 4 more days till the next book and I can't wait.
