Acadia, the last human city. For 200 years, vicious creatures have laid siege to the city, leaving the land rough with the bodies of the fallen. For Cojax, training to become a defender of the city is his greatest ambition. That all changes when a girl from outside the city walls appears - from a land that supposedly held no life. Her presence threatens to undermine the entire society, putting Cojax in an impossible situation. He must now choose between what is right and what is necessary for humanity to survive.

This book is a page Turner! Food, sleep, and general hygiene took a back seat while I was sucked into this Epic experience. The concept was compelling. Acadia is the last human city, or so the people are told, but the sudden appearance of Jessica turns the city upside down. Excellent emotion and depth of the characters. I loved the plot twists and turns. It goes very much different than you think.
Things I loved
-Epic world building
-hero's that are likeable and realistic
-the elements of Greek society
I loved everything about this book. It was such an awesome combination of old world Greek/Roman battle styles and armor with a futuristic distopia. The characters were amazing and the plot pulled me in right away.
Please, please, please write a sequel!!!
This is seriously a good read.I couldn't put it down. I think it's as well-written as Ender's Game but more in the style of Brandon Sanderson. Nixon is one of my favorite authors, and this is his best work yet.
powerful, dynamic characters. excellent world building. fantastic battles. loved it.
I loved Jessica's character, who tackled insurmountable challenges throughout the book.
Gripping story. Plan on spending your free time listening to this book until you finish it, because it's impossible not to get sucked in.
This is the first book I've listened to from Nixon, and he is certainly a gifted writer. His character development, imagery of a complex world, and unexpected plot twists made the story come alive. I would love to see this made into a movie!
Excellent performance, narration is on point. As for the story, I found it to be original and good. It was a story whose center is the struggles of a cast of believable characters. I was surprised at almost every turn, and it was difficult to predict how things would go. The stupidity that plagues main characters in other books was blissfully absent, as were plot devices. The apparent gaps in logic and knowledge that are initially introduced were filled in throughout the story to my satisfaction.
Epic! Totally epic. What an assume character driven novel. I was sucked right in to this story from the get-go and the world building is outstanding. The narrator did a fine job as well. Seriously you guys, if you listen to one audiobook this year make sure this is it. Couldn't stop listening. Great job Sterling Nixon!
This was a fantastic book, filled with the very best and wort of humanity. The characters were flawed, and contained a mix of good and bad. Jessica is awesome. I loved her. She isn't over-the-top tough, but she has a surreal determination that she carries with her. Cojax is a solid character as well.
Acadia is similar in quality to Brandon Sanderson, Orson Scott Card, or Pierce Brown.
He did a great job.
There are some deep, profound moments.
