Stop the trumpets.

Really good second book. Predictable. But, overall I am enjoying it. The narrator is consistent and enjoyable as well. What sucks is the stupid trumpets. Wtf. No rhyme or reason. Odd places. Please for the love of furies stop!

Again with the horns!

Seriously, this series has been magnificent except for those ridiculous horns. Disruptive every darn time!

Wow!

The story is never dull and keeps up the tension.
Everybody seems to be in danger and in need of help.
It was hard for me to stop listening. A real page turner.

Amazing!

The entire series is amazing. The characters are easy to relate to and interesting. The storyline is exciting. The details are rich and you can imagine yourself in this world, but the descriptions aren't boring and drawn out. I could not put these down/or stop listening to them. Fantasy at it's very best. Bravo, Mr. Butcher.

Audio Problems

Any additional comments?

The story is amazing, just as enthralling as the first, but plagued by even more recording artifacts to say nothing of THE HORNS, really wish audible would do something about that.

A literal page turner. Loved the series so much!!

I love listening to a Kate reading narrative. she does so well giving into the passion and understanding of a piece. The series as a whole is amazing. I love the way Jim makes you fall in love with his characters. I loved the hardbacks so much I bought the audio books!

Even better than the first

sometimes the second book doesn't live up to the glory of the first, but that is far from the case with this series. A new but familiar foe emerges and the story blossoms into something spectacular. (although I'd still like a new Dresden book) In a world where you crave Jim Butcher's story weaving, and you're caught up on Dresden, this does not disappoint.

And the narrator hit her stride as well, really good listen.

Overall very good!

Awesome performance (going to go find some more things read by Kate Redding.) Not the fault of the reader that someone chose to put in trumpet blasts marking significant moments - but seriously, for audible productions, anyone who says “Hey, you know what? Let’s toss in some trumpets!” should be shot immediately.
In terms of the story - LOVING it. Only complaint is that it has yet to definitively pass the Bechdel test, but includes enough interesting female characters for hope!
