awesome content, love the story

the only thing I dislike about the performance is the horns that sound almost at random.

I’m a narrator snob

This one is great! Story is good, with solid, multidimensional characters. Not the depth of Red Rising or Name of the Wind, but a satisfying “read”.

Give it a chance

Thought I would hate it, but wife convinced me to try it anyway even though it isn't Dresden and I am glad she did- on par with it, but isn't Dresden.

Very good!

I enjoyed the book as always and thought this reading was much better. I'm not sure of the specifics changed, but I thought this was a much better performance than the first one.

love this series

I have listened to the entire series three times now. the books take you to another world. Kate Reading is a fantastic reader with a distinct voice for each character that holds true over the course of all five books

First Experience, and here we are

Any additional comments?

This was the first series i ever listened to with Audible, and here i am 10 years later. Kate Reading delivers well. Jim Butcher crushes the seemingly weird concept with ease, dragging us along with some delightful characters, through a startlingly unique fantasy world (even for today).

Make sure this is your kind of thing, but if it you enjoy fantasy, it probably is. Good writing and imagination are pretty universal.

WoW

Would you listen to Academ's Fury again? Why?

I dont think i can stop myself from listening to it a second possibly a third time. This book was even better than the first! So much more is explained and you begin to understand a bit more of things that were not disclosed in the first book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Academ's Fury?

Fade, Enough said.

What about Kate Reading’s performance did you like?

No matter who the character she manages to give them all a life of their own.

Any additional comments?

This is only the second book, but so far its my favorite. I cant wait to start reading the third.

Excellent

A very well written and performed story whose main flaw is randomly placed horns throughout the performance. Well worth the time and money.

Enjoyed it even more than the first book

The characters, plot, and lore became even more rich and interesting. Jim Butcher is a master of story telling and Kate Reading is now one of my absolute favorite narrators.

If you liked the first Codex of Alera, I would consider this a must-read. Most of the characters from the first book return; some are growing up and changing while others expound on their established traits and personalities. There's also several new and colorful characters that take the stage without weakening the presence of the established cast from book one.

There's an organic revealing of the world and the many cultures through the story. While much of the first book took place near the farms and fields of steadholds, book two takes us into the city and stronghold of the First Lord. A better view of the social structure is offered through the eyes of Tavi and his new friends. One of my favorite parts was seeing first hand the power of the fury crafting by nobility. Bloodline is more than just name and fortune in Alera.

Some questions and suspicions raised or hinted at in the first book were answered, leading to bigger questions behind them. And once again, at the end, Butcher wrote in an amazing hook that had me clicking directly to book 3.

I'm officially and happily invested in this series.
