Publisher's Summary

Step into the shadows with the first of a series that blends deduction with suspense...and blood. Dru Lorand is not a commonplace vampire - he's an Inquisitor, chosen by the elders of a most sanguine and secret society. His role is to investigate sedition and punish treason among the undead, of whom there are clans, factions, and territories. He's made enemies over the centuries. He's dealt with many of them, with the help of myriad assistants, even gargoyles as spies. But now a mysterious party has broken one of the cardinal rules governing vampire society.

"What atonement is there for blood spilt upon the earth?" (Aeschylus)

A terrible threat that could lead to madness unleashed on an unsuspecting world causes Dru to embark on an epic journey. From the posh clubs of Philadelphia to hidden monasteries in the Alps, bloodlines are being drawn and Dru's fortitude will be tested as he discovers A Warning in Blood.

"So, so, so painfully painingly repetitious"
Would you try another book from Joseph R. G. DeMarco and/or Michael T. Bradley?

The protagonist's internal dialog and his conversations are so repetitive, so inconclusive, that I fast forwarded through most of this book. I wanted to like him. I do like him. I also wanted him to die after the third time he almost loses control because he has ADHD episodes at the most inappropriate moments. I also wish he actually listened to the characters he is interacting with. He is so busy talking to himself, repeating himself, never really advancing action. I kept uttering the word 'gasbag'. Then the point of view suddenly changes at about 80%. And then a shear cliff hanger ending. Just too frustrating.

Would you ever listen to anything by Joseph R. G. DeMarco again?

Never say never. But I will proceed with caution.

What three words best describe Michael T. Bradley’s voice?

    Versatile, appropriate, varied

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Warning in Blood?

I don't know that any scenes ought to be cut, but most could have been shortened significantly. So much repetition.
