None of these factors would mean much taken alone, but together, they spell out a population that is distinctly skewed from the normal. Surprisingly, hardly anyone in the valley realizes that most of them are different from the average. They simply think they live in a good place among good people. Then the investigation starts.

A Strange Valley is a very strange book. It starts off with a nice sci-fi-idea, a nice what-if, but never lifts from the ground. Instead of trying to build suspense the writer spends most of the novel to quasiliberal sexual fantasies that with time get tiresomely lecherous. Quite a disapointment.
The valley is a free love community, embracing straight, gay and menage a trois relationships. The narrator makes up his own pronunciations, adding and dropping letters at will.
