Publisher's summary

Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage as violently as ever, as alliances are made and broken. Joffrey, of House Lannister, sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the land of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, the victim of the jealous sorceress who holds him in her evil thrall. But young Robb, of House Stark, still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. Robb plots against his despised Lannister enemies, even as they hold his sister hostage at King's Landing, the seat of the Iron Throne. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons still left in the world....

But as opposing forces maneuver for the final titanic showdown, an army of barbaric wildlings arrives from the outermost line of civilization. In their vanguard is a horde of mythical Others, a supernatural army of the living dead whose animated corpses are unstoppable. As the future of the land hangs in the balance, no one will rest until the Seven Kingdoms have exploded in a veritable storm of swords....

Awesome Character voices

What made the experience of listening to A Storm of Swords the most enjoyable?

The various destinct voices and the eligence of the narrators voice made the experience realistic. I listened to 8 straight hours everyday and bought the next book right after and now on the 4th.

What did you like best about this story?

Sex, violence and the surprise ending. There was nothing predictable about this book especially the ending.

Which scene was your favorite?

Danny finding her voice and confidence with her Dragons. Why do they treat Giant of Lannisters in such a way after saving the Kingdom and Shae turning on him during the trial.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Storm before Winter

Dotrice gives me a headache!

How could the performance have been better?

I could not understand half of the book as it was narrated. When he was reading in Walder/Lord Tyvinn voice I could not tell what in the world was being said, to much freaking mumbling, extremely frustrating.

Loved It!

Definitely one of the best books in the series so far! If you compare it to the tv show, certain storylines become out of sync and happen a lot faster than in the show but it’s great! I love seeing the differences.
I’ve also gotten used to Roy Dotrice’s narration even though he uses very strange voices for the female characters.
Overall, a great story and great production!

Love G. O. T.

I enjoy listening to the narrator reading this amazing series. His voice inflections for the different characters gives the tale dimension.

Thankyou☺️ Busy student and CNA

I go to school full time and work full time also. I have severe adhd and it’s really hard for me to focus through school and work and then fine time to relax and read. Reading is one of the only things that helps soothe my anxiety and my adhd. Makes me stop and just listen and enter another world. This series is absolutely amazing and has helped me tremendously over this semester. Giving me a place to escape to when all the studying and working gets me worked up. So thanks. This busy girl appreciates you🙌🏻🔥

Superb story line. Poor performance

I am really enjoying the Game of Thrones series. However the narrator's voice has become increasingly irritating. In particular, his portrayal of Lord Tywin was (for some awful reason) rendered as Winston Churchill, which made these sections very annoying to listen to. Instead of concentrating on the story we were left with having to ignore the bad performance of the narrator.
Otherwise the story and the detail and the research were excellent.
