With great power comes great responsibility. So says the tradition of witching. One teenage witch missed that lesson....
As a child, Sierra Brighton traveled the world. She swam with the baby whales, danced in storm funnels, and lived in complete magical freedom. And then Momma died and Sierra ended up in foster care, an unhappy and very secret witch.
Fetched by Nell's spell, she'll no longer need to do magic on lonely beaches - but can Sierra learn to use her power safely? Or will her reckless blood put Witch Central at risk?
A Reckless Witch is book three in the top-rated A Modern Witch series. While each book tells a complete story, you'll enjoy the characters far more if you start at the beginning of the series.

Heartbreaking - Hopeful - Loving
We are back in America and meet Sierra Brighton, an orphaned teenager who uses her magical powers to dance with the ocean - yes, the water itself. Ms. Geary pulled me into the scene (and the book) with her wonderful writing. I felt like I was there with Sierra enjoying the freedom and happiness of this magical dance. This is especially noteworthy since I cannot swim - what a wonderful "experience" for me! Thanks also to Ms. Pardee for another outstanding narration!
Sierra is a very sympathetic orphan who is the perfect mix of tough-as-nails versus broken little girl character. Ms. Geary did a fabulous job developing her for this story. The three twin girls work lovingly with Sierra and I enjoyed these scenes very much. Aervyn still owns my heart. When he grows up, I want to marry him.
Yes, in fact I did listen to this book until its completion at 1 am in the morning - on a work night.
The book is about a young girl who loses her mother and has to hide her witchy talents while being placed in various foster care homes for six years. It is a lonely existence, but she seems to fair better than most in this system. However, she is about to turn 18 and will be kicked out of foster care at that time. Nell's wonderful witch-finder spell finds Sierra in the nick of time and that is where the magic truly begins. While there is much laughter and happiness in this story, it also had some heart-rending moments to it. (Not bad enough to make me cry though.) The story also has some world-wide implications which were a pleasant, yet well thought-out surprise. Well done, Ms. Geary! There is a bonus feature to this book - A Witch Central Wedding was added to the end in it's entirety. It is an item that you pay for separately on Amazon, so I was thrilled to get this little bonus here. Thank you very much for that little present.Lastly, when I looked on Amazon to get Sierra's last name (Brighton), I was pleasantly surprised to see that there are more books in this series that are not available on Audible. So if you enjoy this series as much as I do, please look for the rest of the series there. Audible, PLEASE bring the rest of the audio books in this series to your offerings. I'd really enjoy being able to hear them narrated as well as reading them on my Kindle. Thank you!
Joyful, Sad, Healing... These stories don't just tell of the joys and struggles of being a witch, but of everyday experiences felt by all of people-kind. I simply love the community and caring that is expressed in these stories.
When Sierra recognizes that she is no longer alone. Without ruining the story for a new reader, the love and caring and inclusiveness that the folks at Witch Central give to Sierra is wonderful. All of these stories pull at the heart-strings...
Yes I have and I absolutely Love Martha Harmon Pardee! I'm hoping Audible continues to bring Debora Geary's books to audible life, and sincerely hope Martha will be the performer. I so enjoy the personality her voice changes brings to the different characters.
There are a number of them... There are moments of happiness and fun. Moments of sorrow and deep sadness. Healing... and Joy... I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone. Just know that you will be moved...
I really, really do hope Audible makes the rest of Debora's books available, again with Martha as the performer. I'd order all of them in a split second. I really don't want these stories to end.
A new baby witch joins the family! A new teenage witch is located and introduced to the accountability of spells. Another wedding. Calming world wide weather. This is a great story with a lot of adventures. My only slight complaint is that I love all of the "love" but it is a little over the top.
This book, as a part of a much larger series, is filled with deep characters that are so real they could step off the page. However, my favorite thing with each book in this series is the deep feeling of joy and contentment I feel during and after I read them. Thank you Debora Geary. I own all the books you have written thus far and will continue to buy them all both in Kindle and Audible formats.
A good witchy tale about the village ethic with witches as the extended/foster family. How do we raise a witch who has never had any guidance. Who takes responsibility. Another light-hearted entertaining novel.
Yes - I have both the book and audible version. When listening you get a different perspective - totally engrossing.
I like that it's a character drama. They feel like friends
The book made me both laugh and cry depending on the scene. Can't give you details or I'll spoil it for you. Debora Geary has created a wonderful world that combines the supernatural without vampires or werewolves, just a family like atmosphere that makes you want more.
Yes, upbeat storyline with good family values and some fun magic carefully stirred in. A not-so-guilty pleasure.
Intertwines and develops the characters from the previous books in series. I want to be part of this loving and humorous family.
Myra is the family patriarch and her Irish accent is a delight. I am hesitant to "read" any of this series as I would miss that.
I never thought I would be interested in "witch" books, but think of this as a fun read with romance, family values, and some "mother earth" type magic swirled in. I am hooked and hope more of this series is recorded as audible very soon!
Each in this series gets a little more complicated. Still keeps the same characters yet adds new ones each time. Could have been a little longer to give a bit more backstory on characters new to this novel. Still very good. I like this series for its "feel good" effect. Good wins in the end. Love enough for everyone. I keep going back and relistening to the first two in the series, and hopefully will want to do the same with this 3rd installment.

I've enjoyed reading this series, being able to listen to it is a pleasure. I listen as I knit.
In the first book she sounded like she wanted to giggle. She's settled into the stories and I've become accustomed to hearing her become the characters who are by now friends. I'm not sure I'm a very critical listener, but I enjoy het portrayal of the characters. Nice company for knitting. She gives the characters a very normal quality despite some of the not normal things that happen.
Witches are really good neighbors to have.
I'm delighted to finally be able to hear the story I've enjoyed reading.
Don't be put off by the rating. This is a simple book about perfect families that love each other and are close knit. Carefree, effortless enjoyment for the beach. The reader has a sweet voice and conversational tone.
