Publisher's summary

The #1 Bestselling series!

A QUEST OF HEROES (BOOK #1 IN THE SORCERER’S RING) revolves around the epic coming of age story of one special boy, a 14 year old from a small village on the outskirts of the Kingdom of the Ring. The youngest of four, the least favorite of his father, Thorgrin comes to learn he has mysterious powers he does not understand, that he has a special gift, and a special destiny. An epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

Books #2--#17 in the series are now also available!

Good Story...Abrupt Ending

The character and story development were good. The narration was excellent. The ending was too abrupt, designed to entice you to buy the next book. I understand the strategy for doing that but it could have been a bit more subtle and still achieve the same effect. Instead it was a bit jarring. Not the type of ending I hope to get after investing much time listening to the book. I will most likely end up getting the next book but I think the reader (listener) should be afforded a more satisfying ending.

I had to keep listening

Morgan Rice learned his trade well and from the best as is apparent in this story of untold heroes told in ways that leave one guessing who will fall and who will rise. A boy's dreams of a life beyond his grasp is told with in depth knowledge of the emotions that are present dependent on the age, background and dreams of young men while reality is often all to real and there is no returning as there is often no road home. Yet this insight is far from depressing, just sorrowful in parts while watching an inevitable growth in ability, emotional stability as well as hope and sadness evidenced depending on the right now from the yesterday was. This is not my type of story and yet I had to hear this tale written by a great writer and narrated by Mr. Farrell who is one of my favorites. enjoy.

please get a thesaurus!

I like the story in general. It's not terribly original, but entertaining.
unfortunately, the author uses several phrases so often, it started to really get on my nerves. "he could hardly believe .." in particular comes to mind.
I also felt the main character was really a whiny, self involved baby fairly frequently. he seemed to take personal offense at everything, always assuming he was being slighted or being treated unfairly, which honestly gets a bit tiresome.
I did like some of the imagery, and sometimes could get a good picture in my head of what was being described
not a bad book, but not a great one either

Abrupt ending

I loved the story so far and I know there are many more books in the series but I can't help but be disappointed at the abrupt ending. For that reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5. I do look forward to the next book though.

Almost Perfect

There is so much to love about this book. The story was engaging. The reader was very good.

Although the MC could have come across as a Marty Stu, the author managed to make him likeable. However, it is also the MC that caused this book to lose a star. There are so many times where the book would have taken a better turn if he had just spoken up for himself, or been more upfront about it when he did. Too often, he lets things happens and is saved by someone else, or good things just happen to him without him doing anything. I spent more time than I wanted to thinking things like "why didn't Thor say this?"

Also, as a warning to future readers, this book ends on a cliffhanger.
