Get on with it already

What disappointed you about A Perfect Blood?

I was completely frustrated with Rachel's sheer stupidity in this book. She continues to ignore the advise of people who have proven trust worthy and paves her own path to harm and destruction of others. Then, she whines about how bad she feels for the consequences of her poor choices and actions (or lack thereof). I had to walk away from the story several times because it got to be so irritating. I am also not impressed with her flaky 'romantic' intrigues. She goes through men like toilet paper - if not in the flesh then at least in her mind. Both Pearce and Al were notably absent from most the story and characters I wish had stayed out of the plot are resurrected. Summary of the story here was that Rachel had to get a bunch of people hurt before she could embrace the fact that she was a demon and use her demon powers.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kim Harrison again?

Yes. I will continue to read the series and hope that Rachel grows up a bit by the next book.

Which character – as performed by Marguerite Gavin – was your favorite?

Jinks.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really. Primarily, the plot was lacking, my favorite characters were mostly missing, and nothing was admirable about the main character in this book.

Hello Rachel, get some smarts

It seems that Rachel is getting more dumb as time goes on. She ignores her most trusted friends and runs head long into trouble. Then she's sorry every time...boo hoo. I really loved this series, but this but just makes Rachel seem really stupid, and self centered and totally ignorant. Once she would take advice of her dearest friends, especially Ivy and Jinks. Now all she does is make the biggest and stupidest errors to get her in trouble. Getting her butt kicked by 'Humans". I just don't know what's going on. Ms Harrison seems to be making Rachael become more infantile in her behavior than the other books. I truly hope that if there is a book 11, Rachel will get her wits about herself and grow up and remember who her friends are and maybe take their advice. If Ms Harrison is making Rachel behave in a really stupid way to make the series last longer, it is really an insult to the fans. If there is another book I will give it a try, but I was very disappointing in this one. Up til now I loved all the books, Sorry Rachel I can't feel sorry for someone who keeps making the same dumb mistakes through the whole book. However Marguerite Gavin did her best to over come the the story, and her narration was perfect. Just wish she had a better story to narrate.

Where is this series going???

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

no one who respects Rachel Morgan

What was most disappointing about Kim Harrison’s story?

Rachel Morgan has beaten up vampires, both dead and living. But a human constantly kicks her ass??

Have you listened to any of Marguerite Gavin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

very good, but she seemed to get tired about half way through, and slurred a bit.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

just Marguerite Gavin

Any additional comments?

Rachel has fought and defeated vampires, demons, and banshees but now she is unable to defeat or even avoid getting a beat down from plain old humans. Who is the hero of this series anyway? Rachel Morgan or the murdering, drug dealing cookie maker that has tried to kill her multiple times? And where the hell is Ivy while all this is going on? Ivy and Jenks are her back up, and her family and they are being written out of her life in favor of Mr. Keebler. And who the hell is Daryl? When did a Dryad show up? If she was introduced in some short story somewhere, shouldn't there at least have been some kind of synopsis of who the hell she was? Pearce was introduced in a short story, but at least a brief explanation was given as to where he came from when he took a role in the main series. Once again a strong independent woman has been rendered helpless without the aid of a man, and not just a man, but a man that beat her head against a tombstone as a thank you for rescueing him from the ever-after. I guess all the evil that Trent has done is forgiven, since he looks so good in an expensive suit. So here we are once again, there are no bad guys anymore. Al is her teacher and mentor, Piscari is dead, the Coven of moral and ethical standards are sedated, the men in black have taken out HAPA and Rachel wants to drink Trent's bathwater. I for one am very disappointed, Rachel is supposed to wear kick ass boots, not i'm gonna get my ass kicked boots.

Disappointing

Where does A Perfect Blood rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

So So. But it's been a while since I've heard a good book. Seems as if they are just putting out books just to have one out.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kim Harrison again?

Yes I'll continue to follow this series. Maybe this is a transition story and the next will develop new twists. Al and the children, Rachael not so much of a wimp. Jinx and the fairy. Will be interesting to see.

Which character ??? as performed by Marguerite Gavin ??? was your favorite?

Any character covered by Marguerite Gavin

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No I had to take breaks. Rachael's sheer stupidity made me nuts.

Any additional comments?

Will get the next and see if it is any better. If the same it will be the death of a good series

not as good as the other books not worth 2 credits

I really loved Pale Demon and was soooo looking forward to this book. i am sorry to say i was disappointed. i get that Rachel was struggling with who and what she is but i didn't think we needed an entire book about it. this book dragged a little. there wasn't as much action and when it came to kicking butt it was done by everyone else! i kept waiting for Al to show up and i waited until near the end of the book. i will stick with this series to see what happens next but this book seemed to be an "in between" book.

overpriced and overdone

Not worth 2 credits! The melodrama is off the chart. A shark jumping event. This series use to be clever, witty, and snarky but now has devolved into a sanctimonious melodrama, characters are 2 dimensional except for the obligatory descriptions of how hot someone is. Charging 2 credits for this crap is insult to injury.

Ouch...

What disappointed you about A Perfect Blood?

There is something missing.

What could Kim Harrison have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I feel the last few book have been lacking... and this is no exception.

Have you listened to any of Marguerite Gavin???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

As always, I believe Marguerite Gavin always does a stellar job. She brings the characters to life.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Perfect Blood?

Cover to cover.

Any additional comments?

I am a huge die hard Kim Harrison fan and I understand at point of a story line the reader will not always agree with the way of the author. However, the last few book I have no idea where she is going with the story and I'm not really sure if I care enough to see how it all turns out. It seems Rachel has been making so many bad choices/decisions that it is almost too painful to ready/listen to. Ususally as a character evolves they try not to make the same mistakes as they have in the past, where as Rachel keeps screwing up. I understand relationships change throughout a series, but Trent? Really?

Where is Al?

I have NEVER had to put together such a review that I was so disappointed and ashamed to write especially about one if my top 3 authors.

Lacked Luster

Up to this point I have loved The Hallows series, however this book was a dissapointment. The first half of the book felt like a waste of time. The plot line was non-existent and Rachel was whinier than usual - to the point where I didn't want to listen any longer. I toughed it out though and felt dissatisfied at the end.

Of course the narrator did a fantastic job like usual.

I hope that the next book is better. This book was such a flop that I feel as though the publisher owes me 1 of my 2 credits back.

Not worth 2 credits. Overpriced

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. I would tell them they could skip this installment. No character growth.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

So disappointing. This book just was not interesting.

What does Marguerite Gavin bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Marguerite is an excellent narrator.
