gets better and better

I did not instantly fall in love with this series in fact I have just been reading them just because I needed something to read. I stuck with them and I'm glad I did because this book and the previous two are my favorites. Finally things are going the way I feel as though they should be and finally the things that I felt should happen are happening. For one she finally got somebody on her side, fighting for her. First Pierce, then the IS guy in the van, and now Trent. I mean I understand the need to build tension but most of the books have just been like watching Prison break where every single person she trusts turns on her and it gets really really infuriating after a while and not really fun reading. it becomes super formulaic and when it happens you get to the point where you're like "yep saw that coming". Marguerite Gavin of course embodies Rachel and has a great voice for all the other characters. SPOILER GRIPE- DONT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS BOOK- I got to be honest though it's really really stupid to have the IS guy in the previous book yell at Oliver and tell him that he's going to leave her alone and not bother her anymore or else, and then in this book turn around and do the same thing to her that Oliver was doing. Trying to blame her for something she didn't do and blackmailing her, why can't people just ask her to do stuff it's not like she'll say no?

Second time listening!

This is my second time around listening to the series. I'm enjoying it just as much as I did the first time... Which is a lot.

Rachel... Rachel... Rachel...

.... what in the Demon spawn runs through your head woman? Lord, she's like a middle child who gets ignored all the time. However, she is a total bad-arsed demon witch who can.... do earth magic. She's got on charmed silver which basically cuts her off from lines and the demon collective.

She's hiding from the demons, and I don't really blame her. After everything that's happened to date she's been put through the ringer, ring out and put out to dry. She doesn't realize just how much she needs her magic until.... she's in trouble. Working with the I.S. And FIB is dangerous work all on its own. Add Rachel to the mix and things get deadly.

While working a case she's kidnapped, caged and... used. It's then that she realizes what she's been cut off from. Making her fight to stay alive so much harder on her. She's got to find a way out, alive, and help save others from the fate she has Stowe's upon herself.

One thing is for sure.... the kicker to this story is that Rachel learns a lot about herself, as a witch and as a demon. But, most importantly she learns just how many allies and friends she really has. With Trent front and center things get to pay truck in a while new way.

It's no longer Rachel against the world. It's Rachel and Co.

Not as Bad as others imply!

Before I got Pale Demon I saw a lot of reviews saying how much they didn't like this book of the series. I considered momentarily not even reading it, but was convinced by some fellow fans to get through it. Im glad I listened!!!

It was not nearly what I thought it was going to be based off of the many bad reviews I had read. Rachel is simply as she always is (yes, stubborn as hell but not more so) and it really was a huge step forward for her in terms of character development, even if not really so in advancing the overarching plot.

I think the bad reviews came from the fact that it may have seemed she was being codependent, but it was absolutely necessary for the character arc. Like someone had said, it's really 2 steps back but a huge leap forward in the end. That's all I'm going to say to avoid spoilers.

Additionally, Perfect Blood set the stage perfectly for the Rachel Morgan in Ever After. That book may be my new favorite so far!! I've been waiting 11 books for the Rachel on Ever After!

Love me some Rachel Morgan!

I am a huge fan of the Hallows. If you enjoy a story with excellent character development and a fun, fast passed story line ... you will love this series!

I am not sure what happened?

Let me say first, that I have really enjoyed this series. I have listened or read all the books. But why did she sound so whiney?! She made all these threats throughout the entire story and backed it up with NOTHING! ZIP! NADA! Just a whiney little girl with lots of words and just full of it. If you are a freakin demon you ought to be able to kick butt, what the heck!

Ignore bad reviews, it's a solid Hollows book

I held off on reading or listening to it with all the reviews... Now that i've listened,I thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of some of the older ones, more runs, more fun, and yes less Al, but for a good reason. Classic Rachel making dumb decisions, but not only do we expect it, but so do her friends and they rally around her and do their best support her. It's not just her being immature, but a true character flaw that she and all around her accept and work around. I just love these books. Dont know how I could have doubted it.

Is it worth 2 credits? That's hard to swallow, I usually read them for this reason, but had some extra credits to burn. Its the first time ive listened a book in this series. It's hard to come in after 9 books and years of my own ideas. In my head, Jenks is so much more animated, not just a guy, and Trent so much more smooth. All the narrators exclamations for every character are delivered in the exact same way that I can't figure out how to describe, but it's not a way I've ever heard a person mad, hurt, scared or trying to get attention yell. So the narration was distracting me, but again, I know that mostly because I had different ideas. I wouldn't even say it was bad or negative.

However consumed, I think it's a good addition to the Hollows series.
