Publisher's summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.

In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?

In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.

In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.

Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn....

What a wonderful tale!

I'm going to miss these wonderful characters - I listened to this whole series in the last 8 weeks.
Although I'd read the series as it was first published living with it being read to me was amazing- I felt like a child again with my father reading to me and he would put on all the accents.
Thank you for a great story!
This is a must read!📚

All great except female narrator.

Only do the audiobooks if you've already read the books.

I've felt this way since book 1: Kate Reding (sp) is so frustrating to listen to. Much of her narration is fine, but she has a tendency towards gross mispronunciation of names and words - some of them just normal english words. That aside she randomly assigned a (terrible) British accent to 20% of the dialogue of the Andoran characters. Halfway through a conversation between characters one of them will suddenly lose the ability to pronounce the letter "r" and say "ah" instead. It's so inconsistent that it will wrench you right out of the scene, and you'll be forced to endure the terrible accent until she forgets to use it again a chapter later.

I love the series, and Michael Kramer does a fantastic job narrating, but I've turned friends who are interested in the series away from the audiobooks because I feel like Kate makes it so difficult to enjoy. I'll grant that she improved throughout the series, but even after 13 books of practice she had me gritting my teeth in book 14.

A true epic!

A fitting completion to an epic tale. The authors wove an incredible story, and Michael Kramer and Kate Reading performed it so beautifully!

I will enjoy them over and over.

I listened to the whole series this summer

I couldn't afford a two week vacation so I took a 3 month audible one and spent my driving time listening to the whole series this summer. I loved it. The story, the character development, the imagery and the narration were all impeccable.
I was beyond impressed with how seamlessly Brandon Sanderson finished the series.
Michael Kramer and Kate Reading gift wrapped the telling with their vocal talent and understanding of the characters as they matured

A good ending to a great series

A Memory of Light is a fine addition to the Wheel of Time series. The story itself holds up with the rest of Robert Jordan's work even though the book itself was written by Brandon Sanderson. It wraps up just about every character's story arc and gives a pretty satisfying ending to the series as a whole.

The problem is the performance of the readers. Both readers have changed their pronunciations of names and places as the series has gone on as well as how they read the voices for certain characters. It really takes away from the enjoyability of the story. Kate Reading's performance in particular is lacking when it comes to reading for Seanchan characters. It sounds like she is locking her jaw and reading through gritted teeth. She didn't do this in earlier books and I'm not sure why she chose to change but it is really terrible. She also has a habit of mispronouncing simple words such as swathed that is just mind-boggling. As someone who reads for a living you would expect her to be able to pronounce simple words at the very least.

But despite the lack of cohesion between character voices and pronouncing simple words incorrectly, the book itself is still very enjoyable and worth reading/listening to. I would recommend it to any fantasy fan.

Glorious

At the beginning of book 12 we are told that the ending was glorious and it is as advertised.
