very slow start
it's a ringo book. it's going to have a slow start. but with 11 books to go.. I'm excited but worried. JR has a tendency to veer off on strange tangents. take Troy Rising for example. book two was basically half a throwaway story. I'm worried that I'm going to invest close to 200 total into this series for a story that strays from its path.

Excellent Military Sci-Fi
I'd read this book before and listening to it again was a whole lot of fun. If you're into a military story written from the standpoint of "officers are useless and sergeants are the ones who get everything done," this is the book for you. Lots of big explosions, millions of aliens to kill, great technical descriptions, and an excellent narrator. I highly recommend it.

Hard Core Blood and Guts Military Sci Fi
Great audiobook. Narrator's marine drill sargent voice is perfect for the military sci-fi genre and varies his voice well for different characters. Battles are outstanding. The writer lets the reader do the imagining on much of the aliend world detail, but the soldiering and action are reflective of the author's military experience. Sometimes the story gets a little "jargonny" for the non-vet, but bearing through it should not confuse the average reader in the end. Stories are not so out of touch with today that we can't relate to the equipment and the people. However, it is clearly written pre - 9/11/01, so some lee-way has to be given to the story line when it discussed life without war in 2001 and 2002.

Good Earth invation story
Has a lot of milatary jargen and aslo does a good job at really giving you a pretty clear veiw at how screwed up the ranks can be. Good actions book does jump a litle but not hard to follow well woth listening to
