Semi-finalist - The Kindle Book Review, Best Indie Books of 2012

"The first book in the best-selling Elemental Mysteries series by Elizabeth Hunter, Elemental Mysteries has turned into one of the best paranormal series I've read this year. It's sharp, elegant, clever, evenly paced without dragging its feet, and at the same time emotionally intense."
—Nocturnal Book Reviews

No secret stays hidden forever. A phone call from an old friend sets mysterious book researcher Giovanni Vecchio back on the path of a mystery that has eluded him for centuries. Little does he suspect a young librarian holds the key to an ancient secret, nor could he expect the danger Beatrice De Novo would attract. Now both will follow a twisted maze leading from the archives of a university library, through the fires of Renaissance Florence, and toward a passion that could destroy them both.

Good story 👍

Kept my interest all the way through until the end. Not a fan of the ending.... unless there is another book.

not fond of the narrator.

she is very hard to listen to. very dry and lacks any dramatic impact. I liked the story, or I would have stopped listening

Good story

The performance by the narrator is terrible. The story is really good though and worth it to read. I'm going to read the next book instead of listening to the audible.

unhappy with narrator.

the narrator sounded like a middle age Fargo housewife rather than a 22 year old and the accect of Lorenzo was actually comical. the rest were pretty bad too.

more of a love story

I thought this series was a full fledged supernatural good guy bad guys time series...it is but with 75 percent of love story. the love story gets in the way of the actual story. the main lovers story is long and drawn out...not exciting at all. I have read the first and second books but I won't be finishing the series. the writing is God for this kind of story...but not what I was looking for.

Very good story ruined by poor narration

Read years ago on Kindle, remembering that I really enjoyed the series but didn’t have time to physically reread it myself, I was happy to find it on Audible. However, Dina’s narration is the worst I have heard from an audiobook reader and I have listened to over 200 audiobooks that are on average 15+ hours each. She has different voices but the ones she assigned to the characters don’t match the character. The accents are also horrible. The romance, the longing, the suspense is lost due to the narration.

Start of something very interesting

Giovanni is on assignment of translating texts in a campus library, when he meets Beatrice. She may be a link to an old mystery of lost books, but that can lead them in to danger from other sources including their hearts. A very good start for a series, but as with all series books, the ending is a bit of a disappointment, compelling you to read on to the next book.
