Publisher's summary

As a child, dog-loving Brenna Fallon naively invokes an ancient Celtic deity to save her beloved hound - and inadvertently anchors the new-found power at a spring on her family's farm.

She doesn't know she's also left an opening for a far more malevolent force.

Years later, thanks to the actions of several angry young men, Brenna discovers the terrible potential of that gateway. With a devastating plague unfolding abruptly around her, she must depend on her wits, a stranger she doesn't trust, and a mysterious stray dog who becomes more than just a faithful companion as she struggles to drive back the threat of a modern Black Death.

Welded by a desperate sacrifice, woman, man, and dog face the feral darkness together.

Could not get past the 2nd chapter

The story seems viable as a fiction story. However the "narration" sounds like it is being read by a low cost version of Alexa. I will have to read this on the page to maybe be able to rate it higher, but this is a perfect example of the difference between narrating a book and performing a book for the voice talent.

Worth the read

I write very few reviews; however, i am sure to rate them all. This one was worth saying that it was so well written that i couldn't stop reading it. It kept my attention from start to finish. I enjoyed it so much that i am considering reading more books by this author. The Plus cattalog is a great way of discovering different authors! Give this one a listen it is worth your time!

Great new series

Loved this book. I loved the little Cardigan Corgie and all of the Celtic references. Could not wait to go for a drive and listen.

I have owned a hard copy of this for years and had forgotten the story.

Oldie but a good one. Saw this on Audible and decided to have a fun listen.
Fantasy novel about old gods, dogs. The main character is a dog groomer. Good pace. Well written.
This would easily be appropriate for any young reader. No foul language, no sex, just some relationship development and that’s very light. The female MC is strong and assertive.
No whining and begging for someone to solve her life problems here!

A nostalgic romp

This book really took me back to my adolescence in the late 90s and early 2000s. It was suspenseful, the characters were flawed but likeable, and it was full of adorable dogs. No complaints from me!

Violent dog deaths

Just cant take the dogs getting killed. Stupid human staked her baby out like a sacrifice. This series is in my rear view. The dog killing author is too
