As a child, dog-loving Brenna Fallon naively invokes an ancient Celtic deity to save her beloved hound - and inadvertently anchors the new-found power at a spring on her family's farm.

She doesn't know she's also left an opening for a far more malevolent force.

Years later, thanks to the actions of several angry young men, Brenna discovers the terrible potential of that gateway. With a devastating plague unfolding abruptly around her, she must depend on her wits, a stranger she doesn't trust, and a mysterious stray dog who becomes more than just a faithful companion as she struggles to drive back the threat of a modern Black Death.

Welded by a desperate sacrifice, woman, man, and dog face the feral darkness together.

This audio book was a surprise to me, I really didn't expect what I got. I enjoyed listening to this fantasy book. and the best part was all the dogs.

The story seems viable as a fiction story. However the "narration" sounds like it is being read by a low cost version of Alexa. I will have to read this on the page to maybe be able to rate it higher, but this is a perfect example of the difference between narrating a book and performing a book for the voice talent.

Could not get past the 2nd chapter

I write very few reviews; however, i am sure to rate them all. This one was worth saying that it was so well written that i couldn't stop reading it. It kept my attention from start to finish. I enjoyed it so much that i am considering reading more books by this author. The Plus cattalog is a great way of discovering different authors! Give this one a listen it is worth your time!

As a lover of dogs whom has recently lost my precious merilled doxie, this book had my emotions on a roller coaster! If you want a book that will completely draw you in & you will hate to have it end, here you go.

The best book of 2019 in my humble opinion.

This reading was a great sleep aid. The narrator didn't do much to keep me engaged in the story with her monotone voicing of the characters.

Good thing this was a free offering on Audible.

I would definitely consider doing a seocnd reading with a better narrator if I were the author. Story line was fair.

Interesting and well written story, but main characters search for someone to tell her that she can still consider herself a Christian, while sacrificing to and putting her faith in an ancient pagan god,was pathetic. She didn't go to church after she was too old for her parents to make her. She didn't know anything about God or have any interest in learning anything about him.Even as a little kid, bored out of my mind with boredom in church,I knew that if I wanted to know what God said about something I should check the bible.,but that would have taken some effort, she didn't even make any effort to learn about the pagan got that she put her faith in,until she had to.She finally found a man from a pagan culture, who 's mother was a witch, who told her that he thought that the gods pre- christians believed in were really angels, thus making it alright to worship them. This was something that he just made up,but it was what she wanted to hear, so she embraced it fully and enthusiastically.I can respect other people's beliefs,if they are reasoned rational beliefs, but when people just make stuff up that justifies them continuing to do what ever they feel like,it's all to common but still completely unworthy of any kind of respect
I'd rather read a book where no one believes in any god, than this kind of drek.

religious aspects disturbing/ annoying

Really? "It could be better?" that's at the end of the book. Not cool.
throughout the book The narrator says feral pronounced as f e e - r a l. what kind of an idiot thinks that that's the pronunciation? really?? holy s***.
same narrator said cow - gent instead of cogent. do these people ever read anything before they start dictating it or recording it? the fee-ral and the cowgent occurred in the first 5 minutes of listening to the book and I honestly almost closed it at that point. if the author writes a nice book, the narrator owes the author research and proper production.

good story, ignorant narrator.
