Publisher's summary

In "A Dry, Quiet War", Henry Bone returns home from the War at the End of Time to live out his final years on the rural planet Ferro. But he's not the only veteran to return to this timeline: a group of cybernetically enhanced soldiers - some human, some not - have made the billion-year journey as well. Only they're not looking for peace and quiet.

Like a classic Western, "A Dry, Quiet War" is filled with the tension of inevitable confrontation. But the stakes are far higher than anyone on Ferro can imagine, for the War at the End of Time breeds peculiar veterans indeed, and the mysterious Henry Bone may be much more than he appears. This tale is both a military science-fiction masterpiece and a contemporary SF classic.

Great Story, Good Reading

This is my favorite science fiction short story of all time. The audiobook is well worth the money, but at times the narrator does a poor job conveying emotion without going a little over the top, which tends to distract from the story.

Ok, but rather short.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I knew it was going to be short but once you got into it, you're thinking, oh crud, it's going to be too short. Unique concept, reminded me of The Forever War for some reason. I wouldn't change anything, just draw out the idea more, let us see the war.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Read above.

Which character – as performed by Jared Doreck – was your favorite?

didn't have one

Did A Dry, Quiet War inspire you to do anything?

That's an odd question.

Any additional comments?

Ok overall, but it's short, be ready for that.
