Publisher's summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.

In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?

In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.

In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.

Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn...

Critic reviews

"Amid all the Sturm und Drang...is a finely tuned comic strain that both leavens the story and adds to its development. This latest installment of a major fantasy epic definitely will not disappoint its fans." (Booklist)

Pleasantly Suprised

I have felt like this serious was slowing down and becoming extremely repetitive. Crown of swords left me pleasantly surprised and wanting more. As always Jordan adds more plot-lines and description than the book can handle but overall I though this was more enjoyable than its predecessor lord of chaos. This seems to be an unpopular opinion but one I feel is true!

Loved it but took a while to get through

I loved this one almost as well as the others in the series thus far but it did take me the longest to get through. I laughed, cried, cheered, mourned and hung on through all the ups and downs that the characters went through. Excited for the next one.

Another Great One

Another terrific book in this series, I’ve heard the slog was supposed to start with this book but I didn’t notice it. One of my favorite ones yet

a good entry in the series but???

this is the obvious actual sequel to fires of heaven. so many storylines started in that book are finally picked up here, including half the cast of characters that were just missing from lord of chaos. still very not sure what the point of lord of chaos is. one very large problem with this book, however, that I don't remember from my first reading years ago - what is with the major rape played for humor storline?? I mean I guess it was kind of in vogue in 90s high fantasy, but yike. everytime it comes up it's very offputting from the rest of the story and rather cringey. just another example of where this series has not aged well...

This one felt off

There were many important moments that happen in this book, but they are undermined by other events. They feel less powerful that way. Some events even happen “off screen” and you just have to accept that.
