Publisher's summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.

In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?

In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.

In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.

Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn...

Critic reviews

"Amid all the Sturm und Drang...is a finely tuned comic strain that both leavens the story and adds to its development. This latest installment of a major fantasy epic definitely will not disappoint its fans." (Booklist)

Another great addition to the wheel of time. More straight forward and to the point then some of the previous entires. Definitely worth checking out.

Good continuation but begins to bog down

I would just like to say that I enjoy the Wheel of Time books but this really shouldn't be your starting point. There are some series of books where they are self-contained enough to allow you to jump in almost anywhere (the Dresden Files comes to mind) but this series isn't one of them. Also any fan of the Wheel of Time will tell you that this is the beginning of where the series started to bog down with too many characters and not enough action though for all its flaws, it's still really good.

My biggest problem is with the production. There are many duplicate passages where the narration repeats a sentence or two and at least one cut of a major scene that I don't remember happening the last time I listened to the book on Audible. It seems inherent to the book because trying to redownload didn't resolve it and it even skips the scene when I stream it from the website.

Great book!

It absolutely flowed with plenty of twists and turns. You can't beat the value of a 30 hour audio book for one credit.

Missing page/backtrack

Missing a page in the chapter after, “6 stories” when Mat confronts the wind finder in the palace. The recording also backtracks and repeats every so often. Overall great performance.

Epic story

Great book series. Each of the narrators is good. However when you have two different narrators for a story like this there is discontinuity for the listeners when it comes to each of the narrators accents for each of the story's characters. Not the best. I wish they would have used a single narrator.

No spoilers here...

What did you love best about A Crown of Swords?

I heard more about Nyneave and Lan.

What did you like best about this story?

The relationship between Rand and Min is better defined.

What does Kate Reading and Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I'm getting used to Michael Kramer finally. He sounded too much like a mid-western boy to my ears at first. Kate does a fine job all the way through.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are some poignant moments especially around Nyneave.
