Audie Award Nominee, Science Fiction, 2013

Padlocked doors. Strange light fixtures. Mutant cockroaches.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s. Because every room in this old Los Angeles brownstone has a mystery or two. Mysteries that stretch back over a hundred years. Some of them are in plain sight. Some are behind locked doors. And all together these mysteries could mean the end of Nate and his friends. Or the end of everything....

"A wholly original story that weaves together mystery and the apocalypse like a finely tuned band." (Evan Roy, Bricks of the Dead)

Editorial Review

If you love a good mystery and are even remotely interested in sci-fi or horror, 14 is the perfect escapist treat, and listener-favorite narrator Ray Porter is at the top of his game in this performance. Plus if you loved LOST like I did, this book will help with those withdrawals you're likely still experiencing (just me?)Sam P., Audible Editor

Not normally into sci-fi books but this kept my attention until the last 45 minutes. I was extremely happy with this book

Great creepy sci-fi

This book towed the line between sci-fi, horror, and goonies-style adventure. Super fun concepts especially if you're a fan of Lovecraft and Ray Porter knocks it out of the park like always. Well worth a credit!

An unsuspecting story that you soon can't turn off.

A slow starter but stay with it, it's worth it!

The big reveals were good and unexpected I really enjoyed this book. It's been a long time since I was so concerned about fictional characters.

Not what I was expecting

Honestly there were too many things that weren't really explained for me. Why were people committing suicide? What's with the bugs?

The story had so much potential but then just randomly went off the trail and didn't come back.

If you get this book for free and don't mind randomness - then take a listen. But don't buy the book.

I love this author's EX series - now those are worth buying. This? Nope.

really great story

I listen to this and it's sequel out of order. it still works but a few things would have been easy better in the sequel had I listen to this one first. buy then both and listen to this one first.

A Very Fun Read!

I LOVED THIS. It was honestly the first audio book that I have finished. There are quite a bit of cliches, and slightly predictable story lines but the narration was wonderful and the general concept was interesting and fun!

Creative storyline that bridges realms of reality

Would you consider the audio edition of 14 to be better than the print version?

Never have time for print.. Love audio

What was one of the most memorable moments of 14?

The most memorable parts are how the author details the characters without over detail. And the use of imagery is really well done. also, a very climatic ending.
Nice work of science fiction written superbly and experienced the same.

Which scene was your favorite?

When room 14 is explored and understood it makes your eyes pop out

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

OK.. well no

Any additional comments?

Worth the read and possibly a second read to capture the authors finer thinking of his imaginary landscape
