Audie Award Nominee, Science Fiction, 2013

Padlocked doors. Strange light fixtures. Mutant cockroaches.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s. Because every room in this old Los Angeles brownstone has a mystery or two. Mysteries that stretch back over a hundred years. Some of them are in plain sight. Some are behind locked doors. And all together these mysteries could mean the end of Nate and his friends. Or the end of everything....

"A wholly original story that weaves together mystery and the apocalypse like a finely tuned band." (Evan Roy, Bricks of the Dead)

Editorial Review

If you love a good mystery and are even remotely interested in sci-fi or horror, 14 is the perfect escapist treat, and listener-favorite narrator Ray Porter is at the top of his game in this performance. Plus if you loved LOST like I did, this book will help with those withdrawals you're likely still experiencing (just me?)Sam P., Audible Editor

I love a great mystery!!

I normally don't get into Science Fiction drama, but I loved the whole mystery that this book delivered. Especially loved the Scooby Doo references! Who doesn't love Scooby???

Great Entertainment

A delightful mix of sci-fi, fantasy, and steam punk. On top of a great story, the author manages a clever, quasi-historical basis for this delightful tale about a group of people mixed up in something WAY bigger than themselves. The reading is flawed, but adequate. Lots of action, and pure fun.

Great book!

This one is a keeper! I'm writing this review after listening to 14 a second time. The story and characters are well done and Ray Porter brings it all to life. Now, I'm off to listen to The Fold again I. prep for Killer Moon to be released soon!

whirlwind of amazing-ness!

This book was scary, funny, weird, and extremely entertaining! I absolutely loved the narrator. His ability to change voices was outstanding. I couldn't stop listening to this nor could I stop telling my friends that they needed to buy this immediately. You should too!

Very fun listen

If you could sum up 14 in three words, what would they be?

Very fun listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of 14?

No one favorable moment.
I just enjoyed the characters and their interactions.

Which scene was your favorite?

The author has a clever imagination. The part when the group leaves the building while their in the other dimension and they can't tell how close or how far apart they are. I actually could imagine how disturbing that would be to your coordination and to the mind.

Any additional comments?

All around it's very entertaining.

Loved this book!

Great narrator. ..good story. It did have a slow spot or two, but it was information that you needed to understand the plot. Didn't really understand why the character of Mandy was even in the book, but not a big deal.
