Publisher's summary

Maggie has an unexpected suitor...in a red suit.

Schoolteacher Maggie O'Brien comes home for Christmas on a mission - to gather toys for orphans living on poor farms in Kansas. She's made her list, but there's no Santa in sight. Not until a local shopkeeper volunteers his services.

Gordon Sumner sets his mind on winning the black-haired Irish beauty, but Maggie's brother is his fiercest competitor, and O'Brien's loyal sister gives him the cold shoulder. Undaunted, he comes up with a clever plan - Santa will deliver gifts with a "wife" at his side.

Enchanting!

What made the experience of listening to Santa's Mail-Order Bride the most enjoyable?

I am a huge fan of historical romance, especially mail-order bride stories and E.E. Burke's delightful characters came alive with every word spoken by the narrator Lisa Ivary. As she changed voices for each character in the audiobook I could picture them and both mercantile stores in my mind.

What other book might you compare Santa's Mail-Order Bride to and why?

Victoria: Bride of Kansas is another mail order bride novel by E.E. Burke, and is also narrated by Lisa Ivary and I enjoyed that audiobook so much I purchased this one as well. Delightful characters, a myriad of emotions and a tender romance would describe both audiobooks perfectly and the historical details added to the story were well researched.

Which scene was your favorite?

I was delighted by Maggie and Gordon "Sum" Sumner's mishap in the snow that led to them remembering their childhood and their enjoyment of making snow angels. They're both laughing and flirting with each other and it's the first time that we get a glimpse of the tender heart of Gordon Sumner and I think I fell in love with him at that moment just as Maggie did too.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes! I knew that Gordon "Sum" Sumner was indeed a hero when he found the orphaned children who had broken into his store for warm clothing and he was compassionate and determined to take them in so that they could be together. From that moment Maggie's gentle and tender hearted influence on him was crystal clear.

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed both audiobooks featuring the talented writing of E.E. Burke and the beautiful narration of Lisa Ivary. I will continue to purchase audiobooks by this winning pair and highly recommend this series to those who enjoy reading/listening to mail ordrer bride stories as well as American Historical Fiction.

It is jarring to have people in a historical have modern politically correct sensibilities. Just write a contemporary. I really couldnt bear it.
