The best Cussler

I've read many of the Clive Cussler books and this is by far the best of the bunch.

Good Read

It's Dirk Pitt, so if you like Clive Cussler, you will be entertained. If I had any criticism, it would perhaps be that the multiple storylines in this one were a bit too much, but it wasn't really off-putting. I like it when the good guys win and that's what they do here.

Great story but has a technical issue

The story is very good and Scott Brick does a great job. I would give 5 stars but I’m only giving 4 because chapter 39 is incomplete. If that is fixed then I will adjust my rating

absolutely great.

I listened while driving a trash truck and it's the only time that I wish I could work longer than a usual 12.5 hour day.

Sahara

Loved yet another Dirk Pitt tale. The twists are hard to think up. Looking for next one.

Great Read, Amazing Reader

I have read this book myself years ago, and now having just finished listening to it, what I am most appreciative of and amazed by is the twists and turns of the story, the invitation to consider an alternate timeline of history, and the stellar performance of Scott Brick. I enjoy listening to Mr. Brick's tone, cadence, rhythm, the variety of voices and intonations for all the characters, the accents and the pacing. While at times, there are strange variations of sound and tone, my hunch is that this is recording and technical quirk rather than a reflection of Mr. Brick's reading, and as it passes fairly quickly, it is tolerable.

BETTER THAN THE MOVIE

if you like the movie, you'll love the book.
Parts of the book were abstracted and adjusted for a movie to run in a normal time slot.

I'm 3/4 through SAHARA but had to say my bit.

You'll be glad you read the book, or listen to it. I wish they would have made a 6 or more part mini series.
I've listened to over 700 books and a lot of great Clive Cussler stories.
I almost skipped over this book and I'm glad I didn't.

Long but worth it!

It took awhile to listen to the whole book but it’s well worth it for the entire storyline. So many twists and turns!

Bad narration

Good story, but huge cringe worthy moments of terrible dialog.

Worst was the narrator for some reason giving a female character from CALIFORNIA an Antonio Banderas accent. Seriously, not cool.

Oh, and every European accent will be German, no matter what country the character is from.

This narrator is horrible and has ruined this audiobook. The Cussler audiobooks had a different, less cheesy narrator at one time. They should just reissue those versions.

Favourite of all of Cussler’s books

Favourite of all of Cussler’s books - loved it when I read it years ago, and loved listening to it.
Not all of his books held up under a re-visit, but Sahara did. Not even the horrible movie adaptation ruined it for me (Steve Zaharia as Al Giordino??? Are you kidding me).
I only slightly rolled my eyes at the gall of Cussler writing himself into the book as a pivotal character.
