Beware of narrator....

I could have enjoyed this book so much more without the mouth smacking and swallowing. Every narrator has his/her moments but this was constant throughout the reading. I've never taken the time to comment negatively on a narrator but feel others should be forewarned. The other books in the series have the same narrator so I will be passing on this one.

Fun and Funny

This book has some really great laugh out loud moments. It is an interesting storyline. Love the characters, mostly. I am experiencing some winter blues, the timing of this book was great for me. Story is fun and sexy. Nicely sexy. The narrator definitely gives the story life. She has great voices for each character, I applaud her ability. The French voices are awesome. However, she was over the top. It became annoying. I can't believe I am saying this when I dislike the narrators that just "read" the text. This narrator is a one person show, that along with some cheesy dialog and I couldn't listen straight thru. It took several days to get thru this book. I had to get away from it. I really don't like to sound so picky. I like this author, this is a first of hers for me. I will try more of her books before deciding. It is a fun story...murder, mayhem, dosed with funny.

Awesome book!

OKay, I have to agree with the people who pointed out the smacking and heavy swallowing! I loved the story and surprisingly enjoyed the husky voice of the narrator. The only issue I have is the mouth noises. It makes my skin crawl. I understand why the mouth noises exist but some editing needed to be done. It was almost painful!
If you can get past that then you are going to really enjoy it. Maybe listen to it driving down the road with the windows down.

Great books

The Aisling Grey books are fantastic! Very good series of stories. Unfortunately the author never wrote more than 4 books surrounding this character.

Aisling and Stephanie - two of a kind......

.... when it comes to annoying, amusing blunderers - entertaining right now, boringly formulaic eventually

Tries to Be Funny, but Sultry and Entertaining

Would you consider the audio edition of You Slay Me to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, only listened to the audiobook, so I don't have a comparison. I do, however, feel the humor may haven fallen a little flat without the narrator's raspy voice. I enjoyed her performance and I think it added to the overall entertainment of the book.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The voice of Jim was a hoot, very funny.

What about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance did you like?

She sounded kind of like Kathleen Turner from Romancing the Stone and I really enjoyed the accents.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

More of a 'fluffy' middle of the road 'happy place' book.

Any additional comments?

I will definitely be checking out the other books (and possibly audio books) in this series...

Funny story but not the right narrator

Funny story but not the right narrator for this book - it distracts from the story. Read it instead to get the full effect. The direction the narrator take the characters is not in line with the way I read the book - and ruined them for me.

A humorous to hilarious 5 star romp!

To say that Barbara Rosenblat makes the book is an understatement. Her narration allows Katie MacAlister's characters to be as she intended, hilariously funny, charming, sexy. I wish Rosenblat narrated all the books. Other narrators don't get MacAlister's humor and basically ruin the audio experience. I read them in book format to avoid the other narrators.

Love the storyline.

I really like the story line and feel the narrator did very well. I don't know if the noise I hear on the recording is the narrator or the sound quality, but sometimes it was a little irritating. I enjoyed the story and although I don't mind sexual content, I felt the descriptions were a little repetitive. All in all, I will listen to the remainder of the series and have enjoyed the story thus far.
