Editorial reviews

Narrated with flirtatious coyness by Vanessa Chambers, Wrath: New Species, Book 6 is the continued sexy saga concerning a genetically modified new species - warrior men who are half human, half animal, and 100% hunks.

When a proud and studly member of this new species, Wrath, meets Lauren, a fast-talking, quick-thinking woman whom danger always seems to find, things get suspenseful and very, very passionate indeed. The plot perhaps isn’t as important as the, ahem, richly described steamy details.

Publisher's summary

Wrath volunteers to live and work outside Homeland, where he'll once again be confined in a small space with other males. He was subjected to horrific abuse and conditioning and forced to view endless sex tapes of human females while chained to Mercile's perverted machines. Wrath knows he’s too dangerous and emotionally damaged to ever be with a female.

Lauren has just been detained by three big, buff, well-armed men - New Species. One of them really catches her eye. He's tall, sexy and... her new roommate, apparently. Having never met a man this spectacular, she decides to taste every inch of his amazing body. Wrath is definitely open to that plan. The sex is incredible and he gives her everything she needs - but he'll only go so far. Something is holding him back.

Lauren has to make him unleash his desire and Wrath has to get past his fear if the couple wants any chance at a future together.

Publisher’s Note: While each New Species book is a standalone, the greatest enjoyment will come from reading them in series order.

Wrath ~ Tender, Procetive and Hot as Sin!

Each New Species male characters are so different and likable; it's almost impossible to not fall in love with each of them. Wrath, who was newly freed works outside Homeland to help find, and rescue his people but he is still adapting to being free.

I loved the fact the female heroin in this story was smart. When Lauren was capture and locked away with other New Species, she cunningly tricks her one of captures to call the New Species headquarters, and provides a covert message that leads to their rescue. I also, loved she did not really suffer at the hands of her captures like some of the other females in the stories.

Each story is a five star, and I really love the time I spend reading them, they take me away to place that can be dark, but oh so sexy.

Very cool plot!

Okay, things are getting better in the New Species world! I LOVE that we got to see Wrath again, he was a supporting character in Brawn and I was hoping he would reappear!

In this addition, Wrath really just wants to help his people, to save those that are still locked up like he was, and to make a difference. He joins the human task team with to others and runs into a slight glitch when they have to take a human hostage...a female human....yeah he didn't bargain for that female, but it was a fascinating story...although VERY implausible. So while I really liked the refreshing story line I only gave it 4 stars because I had to tell my brain it was fiction many times to get past the glaring "no freaking way would that ever happen" moments.

Still good though!

Plush and Cuddly Goodness

I loved that one of us plush girls got to have a New Species male and though she was blonde she was smart. It was also great that Wrath had his friend Shadow to encourage him and stand beside him.

Great series

My only complaint is that none of these species are ethnic. Lol. Don't get me wrong I know that Caucasians make up most of the world but it would b nice to hear about some Latin love, some African mandingo, or some Native American teasing. IJS

Horrible narration of male voices.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The female voices were fine but the male ones could of been better. They sounded so goofy.

Warth...so cute and so good!

Would you listen to Wrath again? Why?

Yes, I have done that and would do it again, as I love this series and book.

What other book might you compare Wrath to and why?

None. It is, it's own book and I can't think of one that is like this one. Vanessa Chambers does a great job at deepening her voice or changing it for each and every character.

What does Vanessa Chambers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Changing her voice to match what the characters are saying and the emotions that she reads in.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Wrath saves her from Vengeance at the beginning of the book.

Wrath and Lauren

Wrath is a newly freed New Species male that has been horribly abused. Chained to a wall & forced to view human sex tapes while being literally milked for his seed to sell on the black market, Wrath knows he's a dangerous time bomb when it comes to sex. Because of what he was forced to watch & endure, Wrath is afraid he won't be able to separate fantasy from reality....especially when he meets Lauren. To him she is the perfect female fantasy come true and if he ever touched her, he'd probably kill her in a blind rage of lust.

Lauren was minding her own business out with her beat friend when a phone call changed her life. Forced to show a warehouse property late at night by herself to a potential male buyer she finds herself kidnapped by what she believes are thugs. She is amazed & relieved at first to find out that they are actually NSO officers looking for one of their former tormentors. But when one of them trys to force made her Wrath steps in to protect her. He is huge gorgeous ultra sexy & she can't help but be attracted to him. She isn't sure if his distance is because he distrust humans or just doesn't like her. As circumstances unfold she finds out there's so much more to her hero than she ever believed possible. Question is, will it be enough to start a relationship.

Great story, great dreams

Where does Wrath rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love all the new species books, but the reason I like this one so much is it shows how good things can happen in trying situations. It reminds us to look for the silver lining. All the new species books take a different problem we might have and show good coming from it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think each character touched me differently. I would love to see vengeance find someone who can heal him.

What about Vanessa Chambers’s performance did you like?

Yes I read the book first so had different voices in my head. Hers were better for most than mine

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

I love this series but...

Where does Wrath rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have been devouring book after book of this series. I may be addicted... So far my favorite has been Valiant. I was actually pretty excited about this one thanks to the previous book. Perhaps that made my disappointment about this book not being totally awesome, and just so-so, worse. Dohner is an amazing writer no doubt, but this did not feel on par with the other books in this series. The plot felt forced at times, and just off in others. I kind of felt like Wrath was all over the place character wise. He didn't feel like the same person from the last book, or even the same person from the beginning to the end of this book. Not in growth, but his personality was everywhere. The reasoning in the characters actions where also irrational to me to the point was actually thinking, "Why didn't they just do this....". It takes a lot for me to think that way, and to have my mind dropped from the story line.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Speaking of my mind dropping from the story line, we are on to the narrator. Chambers does a very good job in this series trying to make all the characters (and there are many) distinct through their voice. There are some of her voices I like more then others, but that's just my preference. In this story though I couldn't stand her voice for Wrath. Every time he spoke I was popped out of the story listening to a woman trying to give an awful impersonation of a girl trying to copy a deep mans voice. It was so bad at times it was funny, but I'd have to rewind to try to focus on what Wrath was saying. All other voices where fine.

Any additional comments?

All in all it was passable, and I would listen just to get to the next story. But I'm not likely to re-listen.

Sexy, sensual and exciting

This was a great all around book. Interesting characters and storyline. Some very hot sex and lots of touching scenes. Didn’t want it to end. Great narration by Ms Chambers, she has terrific male voices.
