Narrated with flirtatious coyness by Vanessa Chambers, Wrath: New Species, Book 6 is the continued sexy saga concerning a genetically modified new species - warrior men who are half human, half animal, and 100% hunks.
When a proud and studly member of this new species, Wrath, meets Lauren, a fast-talking, quick-thinking woman whom danger always seems to find, things get suspenseful and very, very passionate indeed. The plot perhaps isn’t as important as the, ahem, richly described steamy details.
Wrath volunteers to live and work outside Homeland, where he'll once again be confined in a small space with other males. He was subjected to horrific abuse and conditioning and forced to view endless sex tapes of human females while chained to Mercile's perverted machines. Wrath knows he’s too dangerous and emotionally damaged to ever be with a female.
Lauren has just been detained by three big, buff, well-armed men - New Species. One of them really catches her eye. He's tall, sexy and... her new roommate, apparently. Having never met a man this spectacular, she decides to taste every inch of his amazing body. Wrath is definitely open to that plan. The sex is incredible and he gives her everything she needs - but he'll only go so far. Something is holding him back.
Lauren has to make him unleash his desire and Wrath has to get past his fear if the couple wants any chance at a future together.
Publisher’s Note: While each New Species book is a standalone, the greatest enjoyment will come from reading them in series order.

Crazy for audiobooks!!
I count this book as my favorite in the series so far. I appreciated the balance in it's content. This particular one had excitement, suspense, and just the right amount of passionate scenes. Another aspect of this book I appreciated was that the main characters did less thinking for one another than the others in this series did. It's always best to keep to the common sense of human nature when creating dialogue. I'm annoyed when the characters are made to create unnecessary and child like conclusions based on their own insecurities.I would like to see less of this type of writing and more emphasis on 'adults' being able to communicate as adults ought.
I also liked the introductions to new and interesting characters. This series is laid out in such a way that It's like watching all of it play out.
Lauren finds love in the most unlikely way and so does Wrath. Wrath is able to overcome his fears so that can happen for them both.
Wrath and Lauren are my favorite characters in this series because they seemed the most authentic to me.
If it's not obvious from my other posts regarding the New Species series, I'm a HUGE fan! I've enjoyed each book, but, there's something about WRATH that tickled my fancy in just the right way! Each book has the same basic concept more or less, but, this one stands out to me because Wrath was so incredibly loveable and I just melted as he and Lauren's relationship developed. I'm also really looking forward to Shadow's book--I think its book 8 or 9--and yes, I've pre-ordered them all! As has been the norm in the Species books there was a healthy dose of humor and hotness, and these books can't be released fast enough for me. I'm totally consumed and loving every minute!
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
I adore the sexy New Species series. Wrath, the hero, is a unique blend of sexy, intense and innocent. The tenderness and love he has for Lauren is so sigh-worthy and Lauren’s honest and open reciprocation is lovely as well. Like other couples in the series, Wrath and Lauren have an emotionally and sexually intense romance that fans of erotic paranormal romance will adore as I did. I found it refreshing that Wrath and Lauren are so emotionally vulnerable to each other and that the author doesn't throw pointless tension into their romance to keep them separate. This is an exploration of how two distinct people become a couple and that’s why I read romance!
Mixed feeling on this series....not for me. Great outline, but I have listened to Valient and Wrath, and both are the same basic character.
these are ez listen and at $10 not bad, but I will not purchase the rest...they give you great teaser, but the books just do not bring it home for me.
I have heard this reader before and do not like her reading skill, just not for me. Her male voices are just awful
No, I can not say it was worth the time. I wanted to give this series 2 try s, but not for me.
I purchased 2 of the wolf series, and the reader seems to be pretty good. I also purchased one of the Zorn series and I will have to see if it is Ok. With this author, I am not going to buy the whole lot,I have gotten so burned doing this with other series. I will give it 2 trys before buying more. My 1 at a time rule must be enforced as I now have some really bad listens I will probably never listen.
Another great addition to this HOT Series. I love Lauren, she is not little 130 lb little thing, but a 160 lb female with curves, which I can truly relate to. I was laughing, crying, in suspense, and loved the HOT SCENES!!!!! Also, LD gives a 30 minute glimpse into the next book at the end of each of hers...I CAN'T Stop Listening...Scared its going to end soon.
Hurry and just download...you will love as much as I do. You will go to bed with dreams of a new species in your life. If they are out there...come get me...lol.
Great story and series!! A++++ I loved this book when I read and really enjoyed the audio version.
The female voices were fine but the male ones could of been better. They sounded so goofy.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
I really love the New Species... Some of the books are not as good as other...lucky for me this one was a keeper... Wrath, totally unlike his name... was a sweetheart! Him and Lauran are just too cute... and the way Lauran rescued him... then call NS base.. and kept getting hung up on...was hilarious.
Narration... yet again.. great!
Great Credit, buy or sale...
As with all the other books in this awesome series, LD has given us a mentally and physically abused, deeply troubled Alpha male (this one's Wrath formerly known as 919 in Brawn's book), and turned him into a caring, thoughtful, loving and very sexy handsome member of the New Species and when the right female tempts him his beast wants to take over.
These books are a bit formulaic (but I wouldn't change them at all) previously genetically altered by the Mercile Medical Group these strong men and women, who have been turned into half human half beasts, finding and falling for human women. With hot shower and hotter sex scenes, action, humor, exciting dramatic plots, romances that are touching and tender, great characters with more being added to each book and a host of villains that are either splinter groups of the Mercile Group still doing experiments, or they're hate groups kidnapping, torturing and wanting death to all New Species.
But the formula works so well and every book seems fresh and new and the gifted author seamlessly throws in new sub plots that have you saying "wow, I didn't see that coming" so the adventures continue, progress and evolve into a series that hooks you in and doesn't let you sleep until each minute of each enjoyable book has been eagerly listened to.
Worth a credit? Well, I've happily used 9 now so what does that tell you!! and I'll gleefully continue to use more as long as LD keeps em coming.
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a pretty good read. I liked Wrath and Lauren and enjoyed their story.
Lauren is a nice woman. She's smart, sweet and a little overweight. Since a real looser boyfriend ended up stalking her she's avoided relationships. She works as a Real Estate Agent and gets sent (last minute) to fill in for another agent to show a property. When she does, she finds herself taken captive by men she's never seen before.
Wrath is a New Species male that's introduced in Brawn. When freed, he volunteers to work with the human task force (along with a few other NS males) trying to track down people that were responsible for the things done to the NS people or might still be holding NS people captive (mostly these are ex-Mercile employees, Mercile being the company who bred the NS people and kept them in captivity running tests on them). While tracking one, they instead find a woman has come in his place. Assuming she's an ally of his, they take her for interrogation.
Lauren is taken back to the task force's base and interrogated. The NS males refuse to believe she's not involved with the ex-Mercile employee, Bill, but no matter how they ask they still get the same answers from her, that she's not involved with him and has no knowledge of him except as a co-worker that she doesn't particularly like. She manages to convince Wrath and Shadow but Vengeance (who's a little unstable due to his mate being killed while they were still in captivity) doesn't believe her no matter what and goes to far in his efforts to make her talk by trying to force her to be his mate, thinking she'll then give them info on Bill. Wrath has to stop him twice and Vengeance is forced to leave the task force because he's just too unstable. After he protects her, it's decided that she'll have to stay with Wrath for the night until Vengeance can be sent to a different location. Lauren, feeling safe with Wrath, finds an attraction to him. He is attracted to her as well and they start exploring things but due to Wrath's previous abuse, he doesn't go to far with Lauren, afraid he'll have a flashback and hurt her.
The next day, Lauren agrees to help the team try to find Bill. They set up an Op but underestimated what they were getting in to. More ex-Mercile employees are involved than expected and almost end up getting the upper-hand. Lauren's fast thinking saves the day and allows them to capture the bad guys. While things are being settled, Lauren and Wrath end up getting more time together and cement their relationship further. They're separated briefly but Lauren agrees to go stay with Wrath so they can be together. Before this happens, more ex-Mercile employees come and capture her, deciding to try to use her to get their people back. Lauren is taken to a location where they have more NS people that have never been free. Things aren't pleasant but she gets through it and some more quick thinking allows everyone to be rescued. In the end, Wrath and Lauren are happily back together and start their HEA.
This was a pretty good story. I liked both Wrath and Lauren but did have a little bit of a problem getting in to their relationship at first, probably because of how it started and all. Once things got going though, I really did like the two together. Lauren's BFF, Amanda was a good addition. She was a bit annoying while drooling over Wrath but once she got past that I really liked her. There's a possible setup between her and Flame that I'm kind of hoping comes to fruition. I really love this series and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Tiger. I'd recommend this story. :D
